This thread contains references to specific bee effects, so I've stuck the whole thing behind a spoiler tag to avoid inadvertantly ruining anyone's fun.
Edit: Hmm the spoiler tag is behaving oddly for me... I only have ["spoiler"] at the start and ["/spoiler"] at the end, but I ended up with 4 tabs? The actual post can be found under the 4th tab.
Before Extra Bees, I used to handle hazardous bee species by building a separate greenhouse, with an antechamber and a crystal chest containing my apiarist’s suit. The actual apiaries were enclosed in glass beyond the antechamber and a sign reminding me to suit up before entering. This worked pretty well for me, but dangerous bees from “vanilla” Forestry are limited to effects like poison and flammable, which you can easily protect yourself from by enclosing them. I had a quick look at the master apiarist’s database for extra bees (found at: http://www.whocraft.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=62&p=251#p251) and some of the effects are frankly terrifying. Acidic? Meteor? *Ectoplasm*? I don’t know what the hell an “ectoplasm” effect would look like, but it doesn’t sound like the kind of thing I can protect myself from by walling off my apiaries with glass. Nor do I want to come home from a hard day’s mining and find a smoking meteor crater or nuclear fallout where my base used to be.
So what is the best way to house extremely dangerous bees? Dedicated Mystcraft age? Subaquatic base at bottom of the ocean? Nuclear bunker with reinforced stone? Will the apiarist’s suit even protect me from effects like “unstable”? I was hoping to breed every bee species eventually, but some of them seem so dangerous that it might not be worth it.
