How can I detect/sort charged versus uncharged items?

It actually depends on the item. I have the MFE being constantly charged with 128EU/t, and with a jetpack/batpack they don't charge fast enough, but a lappack actually charges faster than the MFE receives power so it works perfectly even with a large input. Doing a little testing the lappack charges at about 250 EU/t while the jetpack charges at 60 EU/t and the batpack charges at 100 EU/t.

Well with the addition of the diamond gate it seems to be perfect then. No need to deal with choking the system because of charge rate, it doesn't need copies like a redpower machine does, and won't have to wait for the MFE/MFSU to recharge to full.

Gold/diamond or gates working great and flexible to any charging rate you have. Works fine with multiple sides as well if you run out of item types you want to charge.

You can run pipe off the other sides back to the main chest, use iron pipe to make intersections one way or just make multiples of the same chest and put them by the other sides.

An override works as well. Just have redstone be a condition of one of the or gates and you can send a signal to pump an item out at anytime. Or put the reciever right behind a redstone engine if not using autarich gate.
