So, to make sure I am doing this right, I went out and got some skin flakes using a scraper. I then put them into a DNA analyzer>DNA Extractor>DNA Decryptor>DNA Splitter>DNA Breeder

In the DNA breeder, I put the gene I wanted (eat grass) on the left and fed 8 basic genes until it said Completed.

I then pulled a syringe and pulled blood from myself and centrifuged it

I then placed the filled and centrifuged syringe in a DNA combiner with the completed gene on the left and the syringe on the right. They combine, however it does not state the gene is in the syringe.

I re-centrifuge it as it is no longer centrifuged, gene still not displaying, and then inject myself. I am unable to eat grass. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I'm having issues with Advanced Genetics too. I have a chest full of Basic Gene. I haven't seen anything else ever. I also haven't ever seen anything in the microscope when I put centrifuged samples of my blood or mobs blood.

Is it just a low chance to get something besides basic, or do I have to do something with the basic? I have tried putting basic and centrifuged samples in every machine and it does nothing.

Remind me, what version of Advanced Genetics are you using? A easy way to check is find if you have access to a DNA-Cloner, the Auto-Scraper, and/or a genetic bow. These are the three latest releases in a mildly anachronistic order. If you can get the Auto-Scraper, but nothing else, that's version 1.2. Got the cloner and related stuff? 1.3.
Genetic Bow? 1.4

Just double checking, but are you holding anything while doing so? Are you clicking on grass blocks(dirt with grass) or grass blocks(freestanding seed dropping)?

Assuming you aren't using the dna auto splitter, that is odd that you are only finding basic genes. But you will only find genes in your or other blood samples if you introduced it using the machines.
But, even the basic genes are usable in a DNA Breeder(which is your next step if you are doing this all right), which will eventually get you a completed gene. Then you get a sample of blood(yours for adding them to you, from elsewhere if you want to add it to the source you got the blood from), centrifuge it, add the completed gene to it via the Combiner, Centrifuge it again, and inject it back to the source.

So I found that I was doing it right. I scraped a couple chickens to death and got a special ability. I then proceded to use my Basic Genes and other machines to make a cool ability for myself. Loving that ability.

However,

I have slain both an Enderman and Creeper using only the pitiful damage from the scraper. After processing all of those cells (not in the auto-splitter) I have only gotten Basic Genes.

So I now know the issue. Special Mobs prevents proper scraping of cells.

Special Mobs and Advanced Genetics are completely incompatible (well, except for farm animals... I could maybe make my wife produce milk... 0.o)

I'm having the same issue as OP; I'm using Advanced Genetics version 1.4.1 and when I combine completed genes with a centrifuged syringe it just returns a syringe with no gene in it. Does anyone know what's going on?

Did you recentrifuge after combining? How did you test there was no gene (microscope, or inject and test)?
