Could use an 'extender' block to add more faces to touch the main crafting block. Specifically fluid extenders or gearbox extenders for example.

Doesn’t the EFab Base block already do that?

I think so! It just looks like a block of brassy stuff, but I believe it allows the multiblock to be extended for more fluid tanks etc. Not sure how the gearboxes work with that though...
