My first idea is that you make sure to also ask the non-guys (gals/females/women) for advice.
Secondly, I'd suggest some sort of lava fall somewhere nearby.
After that, replacing the inside flooring with something besides grass would be useful.
And, finally, I'd suggest an oil moat.
I refer to everyone as guys

I think the lava fall idea is great! Will definitely add some light to the area! and the moat might fit as well! Especially that dark colour! So much delicious contrast!

I don't know if I could really call it "joking" so much as "giving you suggestions that were not qualified by a standard group within normal human reason conditions".
Also, you should make some artificial wool clouds over your base, complete with wireless redstone "rain showers".
They are not, in actuality, crazy when you use an inverse value for social considerations in regards to sanity.
Oh, another idea: Set a few of the nearby trees on fire, so it appears that your would is a bit more troubled that it already appears.
And a consideration of the stomach: Go find something to eat, as you're pretty low of food. By now, you're surely starving.
For a starting shelter it looks fine but you will need to make it A LOT bigger. All these mods add machines and the machines take up a lot of room.
