Here is how I made my self sufficient automated bio fuel farm, but is that a worthwile EU source?

Now my question is, should I even be using the biofuel or should I be burning biomass to turn MJ into lava and generate EU that way?

In engines: biomass = 50k MJ, biofuel = 200k MJ
In a biogenerator: biomass = 8k EU, biofuel = 32k EU
A magma crucible will make 1 bucket of lava for 20k MJ, which will produce 20k EU in a geothermal (30k in a GT thermal generator). So no, burning biofuel for EU is not worth it from a pure efficiency standpoint.

The still's 10:3 ratio makes for effective fuel compression, so biomass vs biofuel really depends on if you prefer biogas or combustion engines.

Biofuel can also be used in boilers, but I can't help you with their math. It should be more efficient, outputting the steam to turbines or engines, but with greater start up costs.

cool nice work I am taking a bit of a different approach to doing this currently And I hope to make mine a little more effective. Yours has some issues due to every 6 Bog Earth ( I assume you are making ) You only gain 2 dirt Now how you went about filtering that two dirt I dont know its been a royal pain in my butt that's for sure.

So that's only 2 dirt per 6 peat made. for your tree farm.
Your Tree farm needs 9 dirt per X humus So the Peat farm is not going to keep up. the sand input to the Peat Farm is Not enough and That is why You seem to be lacking Bog Earth and your Peat farm is mostly dirt. If I was you and this is some thing I am doing I am using a cobble generator a block breaker and a pulverizer to make sand from cobble and feeding my system that way ( I don't have a tree farm for my setup i have 2 sugarcane farms making plantballs that way.)

when i looked at a way to create plantballs I seen that the tree farm required a lot to maintain and that was just some large pain for me because there is no effective way to make dirt. That I know of

I think from reading above that Steve's carts may have a nice way to chop trees must look into it.

Also I am having major issues with making too much sand and Bog Earth due to the dirt expanding and not removing the extra 2 it makes from sand. :/ I am now in the process of coding a ComputerCraft Program to count the dirt and monitor the whole thing so no items build up and spill out over the place. :D

In my opinion converting MJ to EU is not worth it..

Not with the other options out there. Railcraft Steam system that has MJ and EU production.
IC2 cheap Eu is in lava.
GregTech high end EU generation is downright scary.

But with EU my fav is lava Geothermal.. Cheap and with Nether Lava and a bunch of Geothermals in a row... enough EU for just about anything.

Be interested in seeing what people do with the Blutricity to MJ engine in redpower though.. Im not to sure its worth the cost to run it.. But who knows.. Might be the only MJ engine worth coverting to EU.

I actually am running a quarry on a single RP2 MJ engine. The engine is beeing powered by 8 Kinetic generator with the wind turbines on them, plus 3 Kinetic generators wind the more modest wind mills... i think its the correct name. The same engines power 25 batteries for my blutricity needs around my base. All the turbines manage to power the engine for the duration of a 40 by 35 quarry from lvl 55 to bedrock, and still have 2 thirds of life span left to broke. So i guess i can make another quarry just like the one i made and still have the same turbines for the duration.

Just keep the string comming from flax and you'll have all the power you need to all your MJ needs.

I'm planning at this point making a Ocean Wind Farm like the ones in the ocean near holland. That, to eventually store in form of EU or start making some UU stuffs :D

Hm, yea so it looks like using bio generators to make EU is not a good use of my biofuel. I'm going to look into a boiler setup.

I find to filter out different portions of the same item, you need to use a separate sorting machine dedicated to that item. Put it on the mode where it goes from column to column and pulls exact stacks, then on the top mode make it continuous. Put your item in two columns with different colors, and set the stack size in there as well.

I have changed to using the ash and sand recipe for fertilizer instead of compost to make humus. This saves me one dirt, I'm testing if this helps out now.

That is a lot of power damm... LOL. :) That quarry must fly like lightning.
