Help with solar panels on Mindcrack 1.4.6 FTB pack

In the mindcrack pack the solar panel pattern has changed from requiring 2 silicon cells to requiring 2 silicon plate. I have no problem with this change but what I do have a problem with is the machine required to make these.

The industrial blast furnace, requires 4 cupronickle heating coils. Okay so what's wrong with that? Well, how the heck do you make those? It's not on the wiki and it's not on the in game search feature. I mouse over said item and press R only for it to show absolutely nothing.

Try Copper on the middle of the top, bottom, and sides, and... I think Aluminium on the corners.
Ah, it wasn't Aluminium, it was Nickel. I should have known. Strange, though, it's not working.

That's the right recipe, but you use a rolling machine, not just general crafting.

Now I have to figure out where to get Ferrous Ore from so that I can get nickel. once again i'm not seeing that information on the wiki. What are you guys using to figure this stuff out?

For whatever reason, the NEI plugin is not included with the Mindcrack pack. Download it here to make your life a bit easier:

Should allow you to see the recipe in-game. I'm guessing this not being included was an oversight, but who knows...

Ferrous is in the ground, ...."out there"... and you can also get some nickel dust from using an industrial grinder (another multiblock device) on Gold, Iron or Copper

I honestly thought Nickel was useless until I just did.

I picked up some Ferrous Ore near a lava lake at y=11.
