Hey
I am looking for a server host that will work for me and my friends. We want to finaly host our own server to play FTB and other packs on.... We are at a maximum 5-8 players. We value high performance and NO lag when playing packs like Monster.

However we do not have much knowledge about moding, configuring things etc. Sure we can learn but we want to spend time playing not seting a server up etc. Is thee any good host that have an easy setup of known minecraft mod packs (like monster FTB)?

Price is not important atm, we value high performance, easy to use and setup etc.

Any tips?

For easy to use servers that have pretty good ratings and performance id try creeper host, also ram node is great however they don't provide a "one click pack install" like creeper host. For dedicated servers id use OVH or soyoustart as well.

Thanks. What is a realistic RAM amount for a 4-8 man group playing Monster FTB pack and expecting NO lag atall?

RAM doesn't have anything to do with RAM, most people think if theres lag your out of RAM but thats not entirely accurate, unless you are at 95%+ RAM usage you won't get lag and the lag you will get is because the server has started swapping to the HD which will cause generation lag.

Be more concerned about getting a good E3 v2 or v3 processor to help with lag.

However monster id say needs 3-4GB of RAM to be safe for that many people.

Thanks, we will then set 5gb. I like creeperhost webpage and will read more about them.
However i can not find much info on creeperhost about "one-click install" and what processors they use.
Since lag is a big issue for us when we play on other servers, we now are tierd of being limited and interrupted... we have the cash and want to play lag free and unlimited :)

I think creeper host uses E3 processors like the 1240v3, they have their own control panel that will allow you to install mod packs very easily as they are the official sponsor of FTB.

It says here that they have some kind of DDOS protection??
http://fragnet.net/games/minecraft.php

Both look good... i think it will come down to a feeling and what webpage i like best :D
That creeper host is sponsors to FTB is an extra plus to me, since that is what our focus lies.

Any other main advantages when comparing fragnet to creeper host?

But when picking a service... im still confused over the amount of RAM to pick for a stable FTB Monster server...? 3GB on fragnet says it is recommended for 60 players, sure that is probably vanilia Minecraft. Is Monsterpack that demanding, that it needs a server for 60 players for just 4-8 players?

Fragnet what probably on crack when they put 60 people for 3GB if ram, that's then"best" amount your gonna get on vanilla with everybody standing almost right next to everybody else. In other words your not gonna get 60 people on 3GB.

I'd say with 4GB in monster to be safe you can probably have up to 20 peoplpe before it starts getting close, maybe 30.

As for the DDOS they say they provide, when I used them either I got hit by some pretty amazing attacks quite often or their DDOS protection doesn't work. It has been a while since I used them however I doubt they could completly revamp their entire global network in that period of time, but I could be wrong.
