Hello.

I have a simple question. Is there a way to turn off a Mass Fabricator at night automatically? I play on a server where nights last a bit of time (due to short tick lag) and 2 MFEs and 1 MFSU isn't cutting it. I'm using 1 HV solar to power the MFSU (I will get more, eventually) and geothermal generators with lava in them to power all three power storage devices. Needless to say, without that HV solar I wouldn't be powering anything at all.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I am using the DireWolf20 mod pack using an actual Mass Fabricator, not a Matter Fabricator from Gregtech!

Thanks again.

Hmm. Solar Panels and some reddy logic could be used to do so. And I know BetterThanWolves has a freakily versatile detector block that, among other things, if I remember correctly, can be used as a day/night detector.

Anyways, I'm also pretty sure some block in FTB can be used as a light detector.

And I guess a Timer set to the same frequency as 12 MC hours also works.

Light sensor from RP2 works. It is kind of fiddly to get working. You'll need to build a housing to protect it from ambient light.

Another option is to control how your upstream EU storage outputs power. Could set the MFE/MFSU to only emit power when it is full---because it is being recharged by solars during the day---which would cause it to stop sending power to the massfab at night assuming it isn't being filled by some non-solar source.

I had a light sensor setup to turn on extra banks of electrical engines during the day, worked OK. Then I moved to a void age that was always daytime and all that extra stuff went into a chest somewhere.

If you have a separate power line running from your solars to your EU storage, you could also use an EU detector cable in-line. Since the eu will only flow when the solars are powered by the sun, detecting current on the line will give you a good indication of daytime, and you can turn on your fab from that. The downside it that if you actually fill your storage completely, the energy will stop flowing then as well. So if that is a possibility, enable the redstone signal from the eu storage and the redstone signal from the eu detector cable to an OR gate, then your fab will run when it is daylight OR when your power storage is full.

I made a video covering this exact thing a while back, hope it helps:

It's a matter fab set up not mass, but the light control is the important part (skip to 3:40).

Would this work? I watched the video, but I wanted to make sure I was doing it right...

you need the receiver on the floor with the wire part facing the mass fab and you need to shift-click the light sensor with a screwdriver/sonic screwdriver to close the light aperture, test at night or dusk to see how far closed it needs to be.

Or, as your mass fab is outside you could skip the 2 wireless blocks and have the not gate touching the mass fab
