I was playing on a server in 8.1.1 and everything was fine. But then the server updated so I did too. Everyime I connect My game freezes and says "failed getting color" and then "stopping!". Is this a java error or something else. I would really appreciate any helps . ( I have a mac )

You should probably post this in the bugs/technical support part of the forum. Also, we'll need a crashlog or your console log to be able to help you. And one of the most basic things you could include is which pack you are using.
Also, have you modified it in any way? (optifine, removed a mod etc)

are you sure you have the same block ids client side in the config that the server has?
