I'm interested in setting up my own world gen settings using the CoFH option, but I need some assistance to understand how it works.

I assume the best option is to Modify the worldCustomGen.txt file and enable that in the config file?
Can I define the same ore multiple times? So I can fine tune the generation?
Does the generation work on a per chunk basis?

I assume you've already disabled the ore generation from other mods.

As far as I'm aware, you can only list an ore once, but then again, I've never tried doing otherwise.
The way I did it (and how the official FTB packs do it) is to just edit the World.cfg; and yes, it's just on a per-chunk basis. I'd suggest comparing the FTB Unleashed World.cfg to one from a clean install to get a feel for it.

Thanks, I'll do some experiments. I'm quite interested in the possibilities offered of being able to generate other blocks alongside the ores.

You may also want to look at a mod called Custom Ore Generation, which does a similar job to CoFHCore except allows for far more tuning and the ability to specify other blocks to be generated.

Yes, I saw that. Unfortunately it's only been updated for 1.6.x

Just to confirm, you can list multiple ores/block IDs. Tested it with sponge with a layer around 50, and small clumps in mountains.

Don't know if anyone can help on this, as it's driving me nuts. I've defined all the ores, with correct IDs and Meta values, but when it comes to the ores with any meta value not zero, it's generating block ID 193, which is no where in my list of things to generate.
Bit of an issue, as 193 is the railcraft sulfur, and the blocks I'm after are 190 which are the TE ores.
I know apart from that it's working fine, since I've been using Sponge as a placeholder and that appears in the world.
