I use to play FTB ultimate and loved it SOOO much. The main prob with the pack is that it uses 1.4.7. I would like to get into a newer mod pack but really like the way ultimate works and what mod packs are in it. I have try'd resurrection but it runs to bad that i cant even play it. I like greg tech bc i don't want everything overnight. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Ultimate works with current launcher. I know this because I started an Ultimate game yesterday just for fun and I'm running the newest FTB launcher version. However, not being a masochist, I elected to disable GT of course.
Open launcher. Select FTB Ultimate. Hit launch. Select single player. Create new world. Spawn.

You have 2 different launchers going...... If you look at the rear one ( FTB launcher) you will see in the bottom left corner that it is showing minecraft 1.4.7. On the right you have a minecraft launcher open.... which is showing a newer minecraft version.

I'm not sure what you're not getting about this. What I'm demonstrating is you can run Ultimate using the most recent FTB launcher while running MC version 1.7.10, regardless of which version the modpack is written for. A train wreck would be less obvious.
Where did you see me running two versions of minecraft? I'm running one. Version 1.7.10.

AND!!!!! ftb in those pictures..... {FTB ult runs MC version 1.4.7 you can also verify this in FTB wiki} and you also have another version of minecraft running in that pic as well.... i cant believe you still dont get it.... im sorry for even posting this question
I just re-installed the FtB launcher and Ultimate as a test (I run from Curse these days)... When you load and run Ultimate, a copy of Minecraft v1.4.7 is loaded and run according to the Minecraft opening screen itself, if you look in the lower left hand corner before selecting a world to play. Trying to run Ultimate on MC 1.7 will not work well because there have been too many internal changes to Minecraft and many of the mods were never updated.
If you want to run a 1.7 pack you need to look at the pack's description to find the MC version it uses. There are several newer packs that are attempts to recreate Ultimate. I believe the latest is "Resurrection" which even includes Gregtech, which was separated out in pack versions between Ultimate and now due to mod developer differences.
