Any idea of what you are looking for specifically? Like do you want more magic/adventure/tech mods or another type? Or do you just want us to list mods we would recommend to someone to play with?

I am more looking for adventure and tech mods.

Are you the person from the other thread where we were talking about school computers?

Yes I am from the other thread, nice to see you:)

For tech there is rotorycraft and its addons, which are known for having a great tech tree and for having very "realistic" behavior in machines(relative for minecraft). Although if you are not one who likes having to think a bit ahead of yourself when doing things and/or hate doing math for powering machines it may(heavy emphasis on the may) not be your thing.

While you have computercraft, there is also opencomputers which is basically computercraft with more emphasis on the building of computers and the like. You assemble the different computer components together(harddrive, cpu, gpu, etc) to build your computer. It still uses lua, is compatible with features other mods add for cc (like big reactors computer port), you can build a server ingame, although all of opencomputers blocks require power by default.

These are what I would look at, although you may differ of course and that's fine

If you say IC2 you HAVE to say Nuclear Control... And you SHOULD add GraviSuite!

You should just download FTB infinity because you are 75% there already. Then just add Mekanism.

I could but as I am planning to do a server with friends they need to download it with as little hassle as possible, so no adding or removing mods.

Just a little commercial for my own mod but maybe consider RFTools. It is a tech mod that adds various things (spawner, teleportation system, shield system, auto crafter) but more importantly it has a technological based dimension building system.

Grimoire of Gaia adds some of the most well modeled and challenging mobs to the game.

The default ruins that come with ruins I have found to be rather plain. Unless you've found a good source of extra ruins? Theres alwyas @AtomicStrykers battle towers, but - like doom like dungeons (or better dungeons) - they pale insignificance to the epic crawl that is a roguelike dungeon.

Roguelike - unfortunately, just amps the difficulty by hiding (well configured) spawners in walls - which provides a challenge - but really there is no way to deal with a room full of creepers short of tunneling through the walls to destroy the spawners. Which trivializes the challenge.

Thaumcrafts dungeon realm is at least a challenge. Again however, even in quite end tier TC gear the bosses can kill you in a couple of shots so you simply cannot afford to engage them at melee range. They move towards you, so you cannot engage them at ranged range. So you have to cheeze the fight and build a protective enclosure to hack at their feet in safety. The only challenge then is getting them TO the enclosure as you can't build in their chamber directly.

Dimension Doors I don't think was ever ported to 1.7.10 but had potential to present innovative challenges.

So, to add to the original question - anyone know of mods that add dungeons to explore that are actually ... challenging but possible to do properly?
