Im running windows 7 64 bit.
The server i have is from a server hosting company called villayer and it uses multicraft as the control panel.
I got the files from v1.0.6 of the launcher.
I haven't added any mods to the server it is just what i downloaded from the launcher.
The server specs are 256MB of RAM, un-metered bandwidth, 1 Gbps network speed and unlimited storage ( read straight from the site).
The problem:
I have ftp access and i downloaded the server files from the launcher and then uploaded them directly to the server and then ran the server, the server launched but then when i went on the server i tested to see if the mods where on by trying to spawn some items via NEI and it said for all of the added items i tried that "There is no item with item id xxx". Then I deleted all the files off the server re-downloaded the server files then ran them on my PC they ran worked fine, then i uploaded the "pre-run" files to the server and had the same problem. The control panel has a jar switching function which i thought might be causing issues so i tried renaming the FTB jar to match the jar i chose, i tried this with craftbukkit (i know its vanilla i was running out of ideas) selected and a default minecraft jar selected and still the mods didnt seem to be running on the server.

Any help is appreciated and if i missed anything ill try to reply quickly. :)

First of all I doubt the server could even start with only 256Mb or ram you probably just read this wrong. Could you provide the server log because it says things like whether forge loaded at all or not.

What conf file are you using for your ftbjar.conf file? I also run ftb on multicraft.

You didn't answer my question but I will give you 1 last piece of help since most people here have never used multicraft for FTB. Also multicraft won't even run with 256mb of ram on a windows server with 256mb. Windows server won't even hardly install with 256mb. I really hope that is a typo. This is similar to what your multicraft and file structure should look like:
Multicraft side:
ftbmulticraft1.png

FTP: Directory or File structure

ftbmulticraft2.png

You can't use the default minecraft server version. You need to take a craftbukkit config jar, rename it to something that matches your ftb jar as I did in mine. Once you have done that go into the config.jar and edit the name of the mod from minecraft or craftbukkit etc to FTB. Then reupload that to your jar folder directory. Then your drop down will be FTB instead of defualt minecraft.

Yes it is. The only reason I use multicraft is due to having a fully dedicated server and we run vanilla, survival games, tekkit, and ftb off of it. otherwise I would never touch multicraft.

Hey Maximuscr31, any chance you could do a How to Guide. I am using a server host that has Multicraft and I am having a bear of a time making this an FTB Server. I am one of those folks who unfortunately always needs a step by step, and so far there isnt one anywhere on the web that I can find to follow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I can but it will go off the premise the server host gives you full multicraft access. Most don't and only have the default config's loaded and don't give you access to make a ftb one. That will create a huge dilemma. To create your own ftb config you need to be able to access multicrafts main jar directory using a ftp client. If the host doesn't allow that then I won't be able to help you. I didn't have any guides and only know one way of doing it all.

I am using cubedhost. I have FTP access, and I will check to see if I can access the main JAR directory

More than likely they won't allow you to. now if the host is cool and knows what he is doing he will add the ftb config jar file you will need for you but that directory is normally blocked on virtual servers

I put the jar file in the /jar directory and renamed it minecraft_server.jar. The server started, forge loaded all of the mods, but it threw alot of errors involving paulscode. I am not sure how to get that from the multicraft panel. The server on multicraft shows offline, but I can log onto it and play. All mods seem to be loaded. Not sure if it is working, or if it is only a matter of time before it crashes. Any ideas?

I also notice that in your screen capture, you have a file call FTB-Beta-a.conf. Do i need that? it wasnt in the zip

If you can get on and play then it should be ok. I made that file. If you got multiple minecraft clients you need to seperate them which is what I did. Otherwise they interfere with each other.

Any chance that this guide for MultiCraft setup has been created yet? I have a couple of players that are very interested in FtB and we are on a hosted MultiCraft server through BeastNode.

As far as I can tell I have full access to the root jar location through FTP. Which is to say that there is a /jar folder location available to me.

Not sure if this will get me where I need to go to set this whole thing up.

i had it working. all i did was replace one of the original .jar with the FTB one and renamed the FTB to fit the original one.
Put the rest in the server folders and done. But to be fair. Multicraft is a peace of shit.

Try the new MyMcAdmin. It supports forge now and i have bin testing it! it works 100 with FTB 1.4.2 and the newest 1.4.5 Forge !

Multicraft 1.8 supports Forge and works just fine. Don't even need to do anything special:
  • Don't need to create a custom profile.
  • Select "Owner selectable JAR"
  • Specify the JAR File name.
  • Under advanced: Select "Look for JARs in: Server base directory*"
Example:
3460zdg.png

Note: If you're used to Multicraft pre 1.7 (especially on linux) then you're in for a surprise. It's not documented very well but each server instance (/servers/server#) will have a corresponding user ID created by Multicraft. So /server1 has user mc1. Multicraft isn't great at assigning the new user account appropriate permissions so you might need to use the following commands to make sure it works right (in this example I'm using server1 with user mc1)
Code:
chown -R mc1 /home/minecraft/multicraft/servers/server1
chmod -c -R 755 /home/minecraft/multicraft/servers/server1

Except your example is from the higher priced server plan that give more options. Basic accounts can't access the options you are talking about.
