has anyone took a look at whatever is causing the 1.7.10 excessive chunk ticking?

In all versions of modded minecraft I have played (since 1.2.5) a certain kind of performance degradation emerges and gets to the point of it being too annoying to continue with a world. Its not so much low FPS, which usually stays on a good average. The problem is jittery motion when looking around, and lag when placing blocks and opening inventories... Ive tried many times to rescue my worlds by trying to pinpoint the source of the issues, a seemingly impossible task...Opis certainly didnt help in 1.6.4.

Now in 1.7 after an amazingly smooth start, I am having problems again. Or, at least I was. I wont declare victory over my nemesis yet, but everything seemed to smooth out after I first removed a few mods that were spamming the log. InventoryTweaks, Journeymap, and the dev version of Modular Powersuits which I probably shouldnt have been using anyway. I am not blaming these mods mind you, past experience tells me its probably just a temporary fix at best. Just sharing what worked for me.

Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with modding, and it has everything to do with vanilla minecraft. I don't think it's any coincidence that my performance level has dropped with each successive vanilla minecraft version. Personally, I think they totally messed up this game when they combined SSP and SMP into one package (whatever version that was). I can't play offline single-player without having my boat run into the shoreline and break... even tho the shoreline is 20 blocks away? This game is so messed up IMO, is it any wonder they sold out to the highest bidder and took the money and ran? LOL Off my soapbox now - don't respond to that, please, I don't want to derail this thread but I just get so upset at how horrible this game performs when I'm supposed to be offline and by myself. If I load up vanilla minecraft and fly around in creative mode, the chunks just do not load 100%, there are always a bunch of missing chunks. And my computer is top-notch, trust me, it's not my rig, its the damn programming.

1.7 was a disaster. Chunk generation is fixed in 1.8(and multi-threading!)

well I have ran a lot of the 1.7.10 packs not one of them didn't have some kind of server side spikes or CPU run up after 30 days fastcraft helps a lot. But in large number of mods in a packs with players with lots of late mid machine etc. up, the server side cpu usage is insane .Here is the fact 1.7.10 Chunk generation tick is broken . 1.7.10 is junk in my Opinion.

My complaining about boats and SSP server desync/lag has paid off for me. Someone in another thread pointed me towards the Fastcraft mod... oh my goodness. Need I say more? The game is suddenly running like I always hoped and prayed it would!

I just hope I don't awaken tomorrow morning and find out today was only a dream. :D

I installed it and started a new world in the InfiTech2 modpack... initially, the chunks were not loading. In fact, the game seemed WORSE, not better. But I let it 'settle in' for a few minutes. Eventually the chunks all loaded in, and from that point forward I had no lag spikes, no nothing. My boat no longer seemed to crash into shorelines that were 20 blocks away from my position. The game seems to know where my boat is now - imagine that??!!

But yeah... with this sort of stuff, your mileage may vary I guess. Like I said... maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and be dealing with the same darn problems again... but for now, WOW is all I can say. Sorry it didn't seem to work for you, that is indeed ironic.

don't worry. my com can handle 40-30fps stable on a 67mod modpack, 16 chunk render.(i don't even know. it is a not-all-that-great pc.)

Fastcraft is definitely a plus for me. 1.7 is a vast improvement FPS wise over 1.6 (IMO); not sure about TPS, but it does seem to be better as well.

Fastcraft versions above 1.6 can cause a lower fps for some people. Try using 1.6 or lower.

two suggestion that may help update to a newer forge and use a auto restart 3times a day......seems a lot of mod packs with 70 plus mods are getting CPU run up after 30 days.
