Stared hardcore mode for the first time a few days ago and learned a hard lesson. I've been playing MC for 3 year, and FTB 2 of those. I made my first hardcore map and just named it This Will End.
Everything was actually going fine until I decided to build a decent base. I KNEW it would be a waist of time spending 4 hours on a base. My first scary situation was in one of the unlit rooms that spawned a few creatures. No big deal, just a dumb spider and an un armored zombie. But wait! Is that what I think it is? OMG YES!! ITS A CREEPER AHHHHHHH! BOOM! But I lived? Only now my base is wide open in the darkness of night and 3 zombies with enchanted gear start rushing in. I built myself a 2 block platform and easily took them out.
Then I fixed my house as another wave of zombies surrounded my base. I can't sleep, so I wait it out. Day comes and I laugh as the suns rays burn them to oblivion. Feeling cocky I run outside for a victory jump, but what's that sound? ITS A BABY ZOMBIE IMMUNE TO THE SUN IN ENCHANTED GOLD ARMOR! I start to attack, but it has 30 life and my ironsword is doing ONE damage per hit. I turn to run back to my base but it's to late. I get to the door way and see nothing more then a game over screen. All that surviving, and a completely geared out baby zombie kills me.
