Gregtech rage, Steel blocks

Hello folks I run the mindcrack pack with gregtech in easy mode as I enjoy the added machines and some of the restrictions, one of the items I change is the piss poor metal block crafting(it's piss poor cause its so inconsistent). but since the last update it seams that I have a choice between being forced to use the compressor or not being able to make blocks at all.

I did notice that the config had the options removed for configuring per block to be crafted or compressed. i added those back in and still I get nothing. what I want and what I had before the update was to be able to use both options just in case I wanted to automate it but this version seams to be broken or old Greg has decided that we don't want to have the options (not that he has documented them at all anyway).

It's really starting to piss me off to the point that i'm going to say the hell with gregtech but we have lots of gregtech machines and this one thing seams so stupid. I first noticed this with steel blocks (thats why it is in the title.)

If I change Compress2Storageblock and Storageblock2Macerator to true then I am able to compress and macerate but I am unable to craft them like normal.

if anyone has some insight on this please advise otherwise this can just be a vent tread.

also please no "disable gregtech" responses i know that is an option and I am considering it but I do enjoy the machines it adds.

Thank you for your reply and yes right now I am just working on my client as I am not going to mess with the server till this is all sorted out.

I really wish Greg would update his wiki with the changes in his config so that this can be avoided

Check the advanced recipes config as this is where the detailed controls on this feature are now located. If you still have copies of these controls in the basic recipe config, they are now deprecated and non-functional.

Thank you, I will look at that. any advice on what I am looking for? I have only briefly looked at that file and it looks like a cluster **** to me. based on your signature you know a bit about the configs for gregtech if you have any advice on finding information on the current config options that would be greatly appreciated

The advanced config allows you to disable any specific interaction with an IC2/GT machine, that's why it's so detailed.

For restoring vanilla block crafting behaviour, look at the "storageblockcrafting" and "storageblockdecrafting" sections. Make sure everything in those sections is set to true and that should restore all block crafting. At the same time this doesn't disable the Macerator/Compressor automation behaviour implemented by GregTech so you have that option as well if you need it later.
