gregtech help

so i started a world without gregtech and did a slight bit of industrialcraft but have mostly just done thaumcraft and bees. and now i want to get more into machines and was thinking gregtech sounded really fun and was wondering if there was any way to get gregtech onto my world. i havent tried just enabling it yet for fear of destroying the world. so is this particuler world doomed to be greg free or can i fix my horrible horrible mistake of disabling.
P.S. im asking if there is a way to activate it in my world NOT if i should activate it.

Your world will be fine. You will need to go to new chunks to get greg's ores, but you don't need any of them to start with gregtech.

As Pepp said, it will start generating GregTech only on new chunks, so if you already had explored a lot, its a problem. But that can be solved creating an stable mining age with mystcraft.
