So, you've probably clicked on this thread thinking that it will be yet another GT thread to gripe in. Honestly, it probably will become something like that, but for now I'm just going to try and lay down some facts. For those of you who see a wall of text and thing "tl;dr," would you rather read through the twenty to forty pages in other gregtech threads? I should hope not.
Now, let's lay down a sequence of events that has gone down most recently, or what they seem to be, according to my understanding.
-Greg nerfed logs to planks, requiring a saw to receive the full 4 planks. (As well as other vanilla recipes)
-mDiyo added a "new" recipe that reverts this change.
-Greg adds some code that crashes the game when TiC is installed. Pretty much malware.
-Everybody's tits got in a bunch.
-Talks were had, I'll edit this when I talk to someone who wants to sift through all the damn pages in the IC2 forum.
-Greg removed the trigger to the crash, but left the code in.
-Peoples tit's are still in a bunch.
Now Greg is a feature-oriented guy, I can see that. He appeals to those who like nerfs, and those who like configs. he is also commonly seen as an asshole, although I personally don't agree with that. I also don't agree with many of things he has done, but seeing as I know next to nothing about the guy, I can't really say much.
Less recently, he's also done the following;
-Spammed the chat upon launch of a modpack containing TiC, warning of a cross-mod exploit
-Nerfed the recipes of many mods by default
-Made machines explode violently.
Now, you see mostly points against the person, which is kind of unfair, as his mod is really top, if you like complexity and like IC2.
One of the arguments I've seen bandied about, is "If you don't like GT, you don't have to play with it," which is the perfect argument for SSP, but not SMP, where having everyone alter their modpacks is often too much of a pain for everyone to handle. If config propogation is added, similar to how server-texturepacks have been, then perhaps this will no longer be an issue.
Now, as a final word from myself, I hate GT threads, and I'll likely be deleting this one before too long. I am personally of the belief that if you don't like something, just do your best to ignore it and hope it dies. That's why I don't post in most RP//GT threads. Unfortunately, 3 of the threads on the front page are GT-related, so I'm just trying to make a thread to end all threads, although I'm sure that my efforts will come to naught.
Anyway, sorry for the useless thread, have a nice day. Discuss whatever you'd like about GT in here, but don't expect me to comment.[DOUBLEPOST=1374134210][/DOUBLEPOST]*prepares for flak, also space reserved *
