Yes. I confess, I apologize; that was me, but I meant no harm in it. I was out exploring an area far from here, when I was surprised by an innocent-looking fox- suspiciously so, I thought- so I decided to teleport back to my tower north-west of here [or whichever direction], and when I arrived, there was that fox, looking up at me innocently like nothing had happened. So I panicked, and... yeah, you know the rest. That barrier was never meant to be permanent; I'd have taken it down as soon as I figured out a way to return the fox back home safely.
Anyhow, the spirit wolf back there came to my tower last night to ask about the fox, and while he was there, he told me of an infection, a corruption that is encroaching upon this area. So, I spent a good chunk of last night and this morning studying an infected fox that showed up, with the intention of finding a way to combat it, but I ran out of leads and realized that I won't get any farther until I go check out the tainted lands myself. So, in the interest of taking every precaution possible, I came here first to see what I could find out about the infection and what you have already learned about defending against it.

In a nutshell, yes, that is my intention. Some way to purge the infection from the land, not merely prevent its spread. But to create such a thing, I really need to have a deep understanding of the infection itself- that the core... thing that causes all the more obvious effects is, how it spreads, what might resist it, and so on.
Say, while I'm here, what do you know about the infection that might be of use?
