I seem to always have a shortage of glowstone. Is there a better way of getting it other than running back and forth in the nether looking for the stuff?

As with any resource, bees and magical crops can make it renewable.

Or you can use a mining laser, I think.

Botania can turn redstone into glowstone. That is a method I use often since I'm always drowning in redstone. Or you can build a witch farm which I've had fun with as well.

Once I have flight and a wand of equal trade with a frugal III + fortune III focus I just fly around the nether and gather thousands of glowstone per trip. I like to switch the glowstone blocks out with cobble but sand is fun too since it nicely moves out of the way.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Does IC2 still have the hidden recipe for glowstone? (gold dust and redstone)
ExNihlo- Sieving
ProjectE- Equivalency
Soulshards/powered spawners et al with witches
Lateral mining equipment in the nether [frame bore/Rotarycraft bore]

Switch it with ice blocks. The effect looks pretty cool.

I think there might be a way to do it with Thaumic Tinkerer's elemental fires but I haven't yet got round to going postal in the nether with them.

How would I go about doing this?

A diamond dolly can pick up a Witch Spawner. If placed back down in a controlled environment on top of a single piece of Cursed Earth, it will spawn witches even if players aren't in the required range. Coupled with a MFR grinder, you'll never need to trek through the Nether for glowstone again.

I agree with this, if you have witchery it will be easy to find witch spawners, but I think placing cursed earth in a swamp would also increase the spawnrate, and cursed earth doesn't effect the spawn rate of spawners, only of the natural environment.

The easiest way to increase spawn rate of a spawner is to remove mobs from the active area. Natural spawners check the surrounding area for move of their type, and if found, they wait to spawn more. Either kill them quickly or move them from the spawning area so there is as little stoppage as possible.

If you decide to use MFR grinders to clear the area, know that the gunpowder dropped by the witches and the mob essence created by the grinders is enough to fuel a TE Reactant Dynamo to power itself (with proper augments you can net a gain in RF).

Demonic bees is by far the easiest to breed high rewarding bee out there. Rewards you with Glowstone AND Phosphor which can be Squeezed together with Sand/dirt/cobble to make renewable Lava.

Yep, I've got a Demonic Bee working in Infinity modpack, Fastest Production speed, and I'm getting about 10 stacks of glowstone dust per 24 hours out of it. That's way more than enough for my needs, mainly its just for making AE2 64k storage clusters. Of course, I spent 2-3 weeks straight on my bees before I got to the point where they're making all my stuff for me. It's not an easy path, but for me, it's a satisfying one.

This is the problem with bees, IMO (or minecraft in general). You have an urgent need for a material for a while, you just never have enough of it. Then you work on a solution like bees, and suddenly, you've got far more of the material than you could ever possibly use under normal circumstances. "Feast or famine", I guess you might say... and never any in-between.

grab the witch spawners that are world generated by Witchery, put them in a mobfarm with some cursed earth under them and use an automated killing method to kill them.

A bit of a bigger setup - but very functional: Some advanced power source feeding a MFR Laser Drill.
Will give you most of the ores in the world gen ore list - including, unless the pack has it disabled, i suppose - glowstone blocks, diamond ore blocks, corbalt ore, ardite ore, uranium ore, etc. In other words - overworld and nether ores. And most types of them. Really really useful. One of those feeding an AE system through ore processing stages means you will always have some resource of almost every type right on hand.

That way you kinda avoid that feast or famine problem. Unlike specialized systems it will never output massive amounts of one resource, but it will always output something of use.

20krf/t - One big reactor of 9x9 or larger reaction chamber footprint should be able to feed it, though not very efficiently. For better fuel efficency, use larger reactors or turbines.

Botania has the best setup for slow but mostly infinite Glowstone and nether Quartz. Just need an open crate, a hopper, a jabba barrel with the Redstone upgrade and face, an ender io vacuum chest and some ender io item and Redstone conduits. You can add a project Red timer to lower the floating entities in the world if you want.

I have mine setup next to my tree farm with a munchlax eating leaves to power it.

You put down the yellow Alchamy block from botania with a mana pool on top, a couple block up you place the open crate with the hopper on top. Build a tube of glass around the crate and pool with the vac chest in the wall.
Connect the hopper and chest with item conduits and set the hopper as priority 1 the connect your jabba barrel as priority 0 and in/out.

Put the Redstone upgrade on the barrel and the face then connect that face to the hopper with the Redstone conduit.

Phantom Lens on your mana spreader and seed the barrel with some glow stone.

And Voila! Will make glow stone as fast as you want to feed it mana. A full pool will double about 4 stacks to almost 12 at a very nice clip.

I bspaced the barrel to one storage bussed to my at system song have it available for whatever without having to go visit the setup.

The Redstone upgrade will light when the barrel is almost full and stop the hopper from dropping into the open crate stopping the process until you use some of the glow stone.

By the time I have a laser drill and power grid to support it I've already hit the feast period. Besides, I only use a.small amount of cobalt and ardite (many sword blaze, cobalt pick head or two) and them I have literally zero use for it. The drill is a good way to trickle in each ore after my stocks are already buldging from quarrying a Mystcraft age into a void world (not actually, bit you get the idea).

Even early game, access to a witch spawner can save you a lot of hassle in the nether. Even a vanilla style mob farm around a witch spawner is faster and more reliable to start building a surplus of redstone, glowstone, and gunpowder. Also, the sticks they drop are fantastic in an early game survivalist generator.

Spending three diamonds on a diamond dolly, you can move several Witchery witch spawners (throw a zombie spawner in there for good measure) into a mob trap. From the drops, you can, for starters):

-Power reactant dynamos (glowstone, redstone, gunpowder)

-Power zombie generators (flesh and sugar into an enderio vat)

-Power survivalist generators (sticks)

-Power potion generators (make sure you have the witches drop from at least four blocks height, they will drop potions of healing, at least they do when killed with diamond spikes after falling onto conveyors)

-Unlimited iron and gold from the zombie armor, if you set up for handling the armor properly.

I am building a base around such a contraption (so that i am in range), and without really trying have over 5k glowstone stored. Eventually will use Botania life infusers to make them independent of player proximity.

You can duplicate glowstone in Thaumcraft at the cost of three torches and a bone meal.
