Ok guys, I have rather a simple question that I feel silly asking. I have a simple AE system at the moment, not even a controller yet, but I want to export Items from a chest to my AE system using enderIO Item Conduits, I connected a conduit to the ME Drive and put it to export from the chest into the drive but that didn't work, is there a way I can go about this?

Thanks in advance.

Use an import bus from AE on the chest. That will pull items from the chest and place them into the storage drives you have.

Like I said I want to use item conduits, the problem is that I have barrels that the Item Conduits are also exporting to, so I am wanting to use the priority system to get things going where I want rather than having to rewire my whole base just yet

You can't use item conduits to import directly to an AE system. You have to use some method from AE for that, with an import bus being the easiest.

I think of the ME Interface as being designed for this task. I always place one ME Interface touching my ME Controller (or connected to the AE network if you don't have a need for a Controller yet), and then I can place a TE Tesseract next to the ME Interface and now I have a way to send items into my AE system from anywhere. Or I can connect EnderIO item conduit to a face of the ME Interface and transfer my items into my AE System that way if they are nearby.

tl;dr: EnderIO Item Conduit can connect to ME Interfaces and transfer items into an AE system.

I didn't know you could pipe items directly into the interface. That changes quite a bit then.

As an aside, if you're using barrels you can use storage buses on them and your ME network will be able to see the barrel as an extension of its own storage.

I knew there was a way to do it, thanks a lot guys :) Also, malicious_bloke, just to confirm if I put a storage bus on my barrels it will be able to see what is in the barrel from a ME terminal but won't take up room in my ME Drive correct? Sorry to be asking such newbie questions but this is my first time working with AE 2 xD

Yes. Set it's priority higher than your drives and it'll store in the barrel first. Personally I use Level 7 Structural upgrades with a void and 125 storage upgrades for anything I gather in mass quantities. Leave the drives for random items.

I connected a conduit to the ME Drive and put ....

This is where you went wrong, to any other mod the ME drive is a block full of storage chips and those mods cannot see inside the storage chips at the contents.

As the others have said there are alternatives in using ME Export BUSs or using recipes in ME Interfaces.

Except if you want compact builds: formatted storage with one item type per cell and voiding the excess into a storage bus: one drive per ten item types plus one storage bus per 50 types plus one trashcan or ME condenser per 6 storage buses. Barrel solution: two blocks (barrel and storage bus) per item type.
