GeoStrata - Where's the marble?

Hello,
Just a quick question to ask.
So I see all this basalt from geostrata all around wherever I go, and I love it, it looks great with sphax and I'm most likely going to use it to build my base if i cant find this "Abyssal" thingy from railcraft which is probably better to use.
Then I see all this marble from chisel, not as good as geostrata's though and my sphax doesen't support it yet!
Where is the marble from geostrata, I googled and it hardly mentions anything about marble or where to find it.
Same problem with chisel's basalt!
Please help soon.
And yes, I have tried looking for a config but I can't find it.

I'm not really a fan of chisel blocks, even if this problem gets solved I think I'll go for railcraft abyssal and quarried stone.

I think they're some of the nicest blocks in the game myself. Chisel does do VERY nice things with plain old cobble though.

I don't know if its just Resonant Rise's configs but in that pack we're able to change Chisel marble into other mod's versions of marble. maybe look at the configs to see what can be adjusted if you are able to.

Which modpack are you playing? I'm on FTB Monster 1.0.7 and I see Geostrata Marble all the time. I did the Sphax textures for it and really like the marble. It looks awesome in builds. I've been in underground caves and have come across huge veins of the Project Red Marble and then smaller veins of the Geostrata Marble. Also if you put the geostrata marble into the chisel gui, you get the smooth looking Project Red Marble out. I used PR's marble brick texture for the Geostrata brick to keep things similar but I did want the generated marbles to look different. I often use the raw geostrata one for awesome looking marble floors and then do the walls in PR's Brick textures.

(PS: Chisel is being worked on as well to update it to Sphax textures.)

GeoStrata does by default spawn its many different rocks dependant on biomes. From what I remember reading this means that you wont find silt type rocks in deserts and wise versa. I wasnt sure if the default generation was being used in Monster, but after having done a bit of mining in a desert mystcraft age and not getting any of certain rocks, I believe it is still on default.
Judging from Reika's other mods, if you want to find the proper biomes to find marble, look up real marble on wiki and see in which conditions it forms

You can use a chisel (from chisel mod) to convert between different mod types, like "chisel marble" to either project red or geostrata marbles, in case you like one mod or other textures. Just place the marble you want to convert on the middle and then select the different mod version you want.

Like this:

*Put Random Marble on middle:

Then select the right type you want:

Weird... I swear when I put Geostrata sandstone in the Chisel UI (monster 109) this weekend it gave me zero options to alter/transform it.

I'm going to bump this thread rather than make one anew.

Firstly I'm loving Geostrata rock as a building material, it has a great range of cool textures but it's tough finding what I need, particularly Slate, I want it for a roof, and have been searching various biomes at various depths for over an hour.

The documentation states that rock is generated in a semi-realistic way, so using this info I looked up slate on wikipedia and found 'formed from ash or clay under high pressure', but after digging through a volcano and clay biome, still no luck.

Has anyone found it, and in what biomes?

(p.s suggesting alternatives is unhelpful, I'm aware of NEI and creative mode and can easily compare)
(p.s.2 Using BoP and ATG)

@Ammaneus : I've found it in a forest biome, but it was way down, near lava level. That was with ATG worldgen, though... I don't know if that affects where GeoStrata rock is found.

Couldn't find any @Esheon but I did find that the Autodictionary from Mariculture is happy to convert between types for me

Make sure you're using chisel or PR marble.
EDIT: As soon as your issue's resolved I think I'll delete the thread due to it just taking up space.

I am getting the option to chisel the Chisel Marble to the GeoStrata Marble but ProjectRed doesn't seem to be in the list. Any clue on how I can add this to the list?

Hmmm, not really; if you have Project Red enabled in your modpack it should be there, make sure you're using the right versions as well...

That's no problem. Hoping someone else might pick up on this. Didn't want to start another thread about it. Versions should be fine, I'm using the latest 1.1.1 Monster default.
