You've gotta check every alert that pops up, otherwise Xenforo assumes you don't care about the thread and will stop notifying you.

No, it doesn't make any sense. Yes, thread alerts should stick around until you check them like convo alerts. And no, I don't know why they designed two separate alert systems for what's essentially the same purpose.

Protip: I use the Alerts popup to see if I've been pinged anywhere, and then use the Watched Threads tab to deal with threads that have been replied to. They don't disappear from there.
