So I recently started a new world in ftb in the unleashed pack, so i was wondering what kind of mods, or more specifically tech mods, should start out with for the most efficient resource processing system without too much tedium? (Excluding TiCo, I used those quite a lot alr)

Thermal Expansion has some ore doubling machines, such as the pulverizer and induction smelter.Pulverizer gives you 2 dust of whatever ore you put it in it (Smelt the dust to get the ingots) and the induction smelter uses sand to turn the ore into two ingots. IndustrialCraft2 also has macerators that are just like pulverizers but can be upgraded to go really, really, fast.

Is it viable to start with Thaumcraft 3 and Tinker's Construct? These mods seem to really comply well. Also I've heard of the auto-smelt plus fortune combo on picks and hammers, is that efficient?

So let's say I've got Thaumium on my hands right now and I wanna make a pick with thaumic modifier. Do I use steel from the 1 iron and 4 coal crafting recipe, or do I use something like green slime crystal, considering I have a farm of slime trees now? Both seem pretty darn good, and iron seems to be in giganormous veins In this mudpack. (As for coal, I don't even need to say, the veins are absurd) Also, what do I make the tool rod out of with materials up to steel?

I suggest using the thaumium for the tool rod, paper for the binding, and steel for the pick head. Good durability, can mine even nether ores, and has two extra modifiers.

And what modifiers should I put including the auto smelt and fortune? Forget about moss, that thing repairs wayyyyy too slow

Ehh the electric modifier? I don't think I would want to use the iron and coal for steel too dang often. And if I do use electric is it recommended I get a batpack immediately?
Not sure if the electric modifier works with a batpack tbh. You could try though.

For Unleashed use IC2. Thermal expansion 2 isn't as good and it is harder to store the power. Also there are more devices in IC2 like the compresor. finally you can also overclock them.

P.S. if you are playing a 1.6.4 pack or newer don't touch IC2. personally i think the changes they made are crap. Now thermal expansion 3 is way better and much easier.

It was only harder to store the power because you needed a liquid transposer to make the energy cell/conduits. On the other hand, if you use IC2, you can store energy in those boxes and use power converters to jump to TE2 power.
