Hello!
I have been a long-time FTB supporter, and rarely play the modpacks from Technic. I already like the Tech World 2 and Tech World packs, but I have been playing those modpacks for a very long time, and recently noticed that the crowd and Mojang has pretty much moved on. I was very interested in finding out the community's opinions on a good FTB modpack that is just bursting at the seams with tech. I don't care about no magic, I like machinery and technology to get stuff done.

So, whats a real good tech pack?

You opinions will be valued!

Other then Tech world there is no other FTB packs that are tech centered and have no magic mods (although most of the magic mods are more technical then the tech mods). Might wanna find a third party option or make your own pack.
What mods would you expect to see in such a pack?

I have tried to make my own pack since I found out what mod Thaumcraft was. I am still working out kinks like ID Conflicts. I also tried a 3rd Party pack called Crash Landing. It was OK, until I didn't understand what I was doing. I added a ton of mods to my pack and it takes a really long time to load (107+ mods). Some of them I added like Reika's mods, I still don't understand fully like rotary and reactorcraft. All I know is that reactorcraft allows you to build fusion rings and produce utterly unimaginable amounts of power.

Yes, I did used to play Tekkit, and I played Voltz at one time, but Voltz didn't feel complete, and Tekkit was more centered on going to space and then bam, you are done.

So I see that people are polling on votes for "Other". What modpacks are you talking about?

I would recommend having a look at TPPI. It does contain several magic mods but those can be disabled.
I have personally disabled AM2, Botania, Dartcraft, Morph, Witchery and a couple other. Should have disabled Blood Magic too since I don't find it appealing and never use it.
I have kept Thaumcraft however since I find it very useful and it actually ties it nicely with the tech world with the addon Electromagic-Tools that binds IC2/GT together with TC. Gives it a sort of "Technomage" feel. It allows you to use IC2 power for TC things or generate IC2 power from TC essentia for example.

I find it to have a nice variety of tech from the usual suspects as well as GT and Mekanism. The TPPI crew also does a VERY good job of balancing and integrating the mods with each other. No mod is really OP compared to another and crossmod interaction is balanced and encouraged.

I actually did run that once and then my game crashed, I should try it out again. I know that the TPPI pack is also in the FTB launcher isn't it? 3rd Party pack right?

Correct.

TPPI is ofc only 1.6.4, but TPPI2 for 1.7.10 is in the works but is getting delayed by GT6.

Now, what if I have it downloaded through the Technic Launcher and I want to run it through MultiMC (I want to do this because for some reason, the sound doesnt work in offline mode and I like MultiMC better.)

Unless Technic launcher is performjng some jiggery pokery with the mod files. You should just be able to dl the pack in Technic and copypasta the mod file (and configs if you wish) in to a fresh MultiMC instance. The only thing too look out for is to make sure the correct version of Forge is installed. Otherwise you will just get a headache.
