I'd probably edit the config to stop impacts in any biome I'd built in, unless there was a way to build a meteor shield of some kind.

it pretty much made me have to start over and a meteor shield would be pretty cool and not a bad idea

There is a config entry to make the meteors burst in the air, showering it's load all over the place without terrain destruction.

In my opinion, anything that busts up my lawn is bad news.

I rather preferred if the meteors would hit the ground, and somewhere like 20 levels below the surface the content of the meteor can be found.
as I really do like the meteors raining down, I just don't like having to clean the mess up

Does it actually contribute anything new? or just normal ores? If its just the same old ores, I might disable it all together to not have it clutter up everything.

They're the source of Ars-specific crystals that, to the best of my knowledge, you can't get anywhere else. Not that I've delved into Ars yet. Just rebuilt my lawn a few times.

These aren't the Ars moonstone meteors (those can be config'd to not do block damage), these are the Meteorcraft meteors which are far more destructive.

For Ars meteors, they only aim for grass blocks and in general don't destroy things. People saying they "broke" other tile entities are either mistaken of dissimulating.

So if a grass block has something like a torch stuck to its side, then the meteor won't destroy that grass block?

It's disabled by default for a reason, but I think the mffs force field will stop them. I haven't actually had a meteor actually hit one yet to confirm yes or no.

the rotarycraft force field will stop meteors.
supply power via a jet turbine or something, specify radius, and meteors will break into a shower of ores for you to collect.
no shattered bases.
