So I am noticing leaves decay a lot faster in monster then other mod packs i have played. Also tree's seem to grow really fast where i do not even need bonemeal.

What mod is controlling this? The reason i ask is because the quick leaf decay is effecting my MF tree farms ability to collect saplings. My sapling barrel is empty and there is barely enough for replanting. the MF harvester does not seem to be getting most of the saplings as if i run around the perimeter i get several stacks of saplings.

I am running a MF harvester/planter with copper upgrades.

On another note i built a wall around my tree farm and the trees just destroy the wall with there branches. Quite interesting. But walling off the tree farm did not help with the sapling issue.

Any suggestions?

The leaf decay is a config option for Random Things (IIRC). As far as I know, it shouldn't effect sapling drop rate.

its not the drop rate i am concerned with they drop plenty. they just drop on the ground and not picked up by the harvester. from my observation the harvester must chop the leaves to get a sapling and with the leaves decaying before it can, thus less saplings. will try changing the setting and see what it does.

Ah, I understand now. Try getting a vacuum hopper setup and have that pipe the saplings back into the system.

Doesn't really make much sense considering the harvester cuts leaves before wood and considering my SC treecutter cart(Which cuts trees in the exact same manner at a similar speed) has produced several thousand excess saplings.

well changing that setting has helped. I have a more reliable source of saplings now at least they are not running out so far.

remember if you have MFR plants sapplings directly next to eachother over a large area, if one sappling grow, it'll block light for the 4 adjacent sapplings, often causing them to pop off the dirt/grass as there's not enough light for them.

Okay so i guess it does cause problems with automated farming. I'll have to come up with something so that it only breaks fast if a player destroyed it.

I'd say it's more on MFR's end tbh. It shouldn't cut trees wood first to begin with as that can cause a loss of saplings even to vanilla leaf decay. If it does cut logs first IT should be what stops leaves from decaying by stopping them from being marked for decay.

I would say don't bother changing it. A player can add an item collector from one of many mods, RT included, to fix the issue. To my knowledge, the MFR harvesters are the only autofarm this affects and is only a recent change made by skyboy. Since it has an easy in game way to solve it, it's fine how it is.
