Title:
FTB Infinity extremely slow
Launcher Version:
1.4.10
Modpack:
FTB Infinity
Modpack Version:
2.1.2 and 1.12.4
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
So, after reading the guides and taking advice from a friend of mine (who has a SLOWER laptop than I have, mind) I've failed to gain a startup time for FTB Infinity 1.12.4 faster than 30 minutes, which is obviously completely insane. Especially since, as I mentioned, my friend who has a physically slower laptop can run it with fair ease. Additionally, the framerate is also very jittery once I start the game, if I manage to do it at all - it usually hangs several times while loading and while navigating the menu and doesn't always come out of the hang after a few minutes, upon which I kill the processes in task manager.

Basically my problem is that the startup time is way too long, hangs several times before it finishes and after it's done.

So, I did the following things:
- Re-installed Java, both the 32 and 64 bit versions
- Set the FTB launcher to use the 64 bit java version
- Set the FTB launcher and the java.exe, javaw.exe and javaws.exe of both versions to use my NVidia card instead of the integrated intel card
- Installed Optifine and optimized the settings
- Assigned 3 GB (three quarters of my available RAM) to the launcher
- Put both the launcher exe and the installation folder as C:\FTB
- Disabled Journey minimap
- Ensured that my laptop is connected to a power source

All to no avail.

The logs have been removed.

Also, you want more than 1GB of memory for your OS if you're running Windows.

You should only have one version of Java on your PC. That can cause issues. Also, Infinity needs more memory than you have really. Giving it 3 gb should run infinity, but then your OS runs out of memory. I honestly don't think 4gb is enough to run modded minecraft and your OS.
