Nether's supposed to be hell... I have played it with a mod called Lycanites. If you think firebats are bad Infernal souls make them look weak. Then you get ganged by a bunch of imps slinging fireballs at you.

Infintiy's nether seems pretty weak after that.

The point of Minecraft is to have fun. If the player is too busy with what others call a "challenge", then the player will not have fun. I have seen many players disappear when there was too much "challenge". While this version of The Nether, in Infinity Evolved, is more dangerous than most I have experienced, I can adapt in spite of my complaints. heh. ( all creepers still suck, ha)

I've not played with all the bits from Witchery, but I know the Necromancer Robes allow you to be at peace with Zombie and Skeletons. There may be something like that for Creepers as well, if the Necromancer Robes doesn't already do it.
Right mod, wrong robe. The Witchery Robe makes Creepers ignore you. Obviously though you can't wear the Witchery Robe and the Necromancer Robe at the same time.

Not sure what to make of this comment.
Challenge IS fun, you seem to equate challenge to insurmountable punishment.
Aren't things more satisfying to accomplish when there's some difficulty to it?
The old addage "no pain no gain" comes to mind.

I will say however challenges aren't challenges if they are actually insurmountable and unbeatable though. No one would play a game that's actually unbeatable or designed to be ultra harsh.

No one's leaving modded MC because Natura and Thaumcraft makes the Nether "too hard". It isn't hard, just not the same stroll in the park vanilla Nether is, you actually have to be a little bit careful. You actually have to bring a sword and some armour and watch your six.

Has the word "challenge" received the same treatment as the word "criticism" where it's nothing but negative. Is challenge now a bad thing? I thought we where all taught to seek challenge.

"challenge" is not bad. I was referring to too much "challenge". When as you put it the difficulty is so hard, to be nearly unbeatable or not worth beating.

Thing is there's no packs with that level of challenge in the FTB lineup?
Maybe things like blood'n'bones but they are classed as third party offerings. Want painfully hard, BNBs overworld makes Infintiy's nether look like a puppy kindergarten. You essentially have to find shelter before the first night or you end up having a bad time.
Natura nether is at the very worst just plain old hard. I'd say it's just right really.

Well, there is Infitech2 third party modpack, which is not hard but expands the Gregtech/GT addon concept to the point where way too many recipes and processes making the whole experience rather mundane and not worth pursuing. The other side of the coin if you will.
