FTB All packs crash

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title:
FTB All packs crash
Launcher Version:
v1.4.11
Modpack:
FTB Presents Direwolf20
Modpack Version:
v1.10.0
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
Foreword: I also tried the 3rd Party pack Galactic Science (v1.5.7) By Caithleen and from what I could tell it was the same log. I do not have the log for that pack but I can recreate probably if asked. Both packs are 1.7.10.

It seems to me that regardless of the pack I try launching they all crash before the game window actually opens up. Now I've read my fair share of logs and if there's a mod causing problems I can USUALLY fix it on my own, but this is beyond me :(

This is with a fresh install of FTB and I tried launching both modpacks again after the initial download launch. Honestly I don't know what the problem is and I would appreciate the assistance.

I get that when there is no OpenGL available for it to render the game with.

Have you been able to run minecraft with this PC setup before? Do you get the same crash with just the base 1.7.10 game, without any modding.

I know there have been some opengl requirement changes between version in the past. I just can't remember all of them.

Their are other possibilities. I just can't remember or don't know what they are. Something keeping the game from seeing the hardware available possibly. Like if part of it was running on a virtual setup.

Yes, and I am able to run Vanilla Minecraft no problem, both on 1.7.10 and 1.8.9

I have no idea what you just said lol. This is a basically clean computer with windows10 x64bit. I keep most of my games including steam on an external drive but Minecraft isnt one of them.

Thanks for the link. I read everything and I've got intel graphics. it says supposedly getting minecraft.msi can fix this, and I did do that and it runs the vanilla game fine. Havent tried ftb again yet, about to now.
...
No dice on ftb now. Here is the new crashlog, it looks the same to me:

Your link also said to go through the manufacturer's site and get updated drivers and not let them be overridden by windows 10 and all that jazz. Trying that now.

So it looks like my previous message is awaiting moderator approval, and it doesnt seem there are any online atm. Anyways, I tried the auto-detector on the link you posted and it said 'no drivers detected for my product', so I don't know what that's about, but I do know that normal minecraft ran just fine before and after this post.
While I wait for a reply I'm going to try some different basic things... Thanks in advance.

I see, so the drivers weren't my problem, but the version of java was the problem. Thank you for posting this, I had no idea.
Update on my end: I fiddled with settings in ftb launcher and didnt help. I then got forge on my vanilla minecraft and loaded up one of the modpacks on that. Works fine doing that so I can't really say whether or not java is an issue :s The only error I encountered while doing so was that the pack was missing a couple key mods (cofhcore and openmodslib, which personally I find odd as I didn't see any mods dependent on these, but that's off on a tangent). The pack I tried was SpaceAstronomy, which I pulled off of curse and not ftb. I plan to try this with the direwolf20 pack just to make sure before I go changing versions of Java.

I believe that the vanilla minecraft launcher now comes with its own java which might explain why it works on one and not on the other

As long as I've had minecraft coupled with as long as it's been since I've actually played it that sounds a bit foreign to me, but given my lack of software knowledge it probably is just me.

I believe they changed that somewhere during 1.8 but you need to download the new launcher (which if I remember correctly now comes with its own installer) for it to take effect and I think it is windows only (maybe macs have it as well).

I believe it was one of if not the first change that happened after microsoft bought mojang

This explains everything lol.... I'm not much of a fan of that tbh, but whatever, we roll with it i guess. Anywho if that's the case I'll go ahead and downgrade Java

As per jikuja and other's instructions I downgraded to java8.51 and it fixed the issue. FTB is now launching packs as it should for me.
I really appreciate you all for helping me. :D

GPU drivers is the problem and intel refuses to fix it because EOL. Using older java version is just workaround.
