Frame Airship Questions...

Once again thank you all in advance, So this time around I have a few questions regarding frame airships. But first let me give you a little idea of what I'm going for...

On the server(Mindcrack) I play on I have build a space station in the end and to continue with this theme I would like to build a movable "space ship" to dock on the docking ring. So here are a few question I have:

How large can a frameship before it starts having server problems:
What types of items do not play well with frameships:
How can I get it to move faster then the standard inch worm engine, Ive seen people do multi engines but is there a big speed increase vs the cost:

Also it would be a great help if anyone could list some problems I may run into but haven't planned for...

Size limit:
Default is 1000 links. Which is frames+anything frame is connected to. Panels and covers inside a frame do not count against the limit.

Speed:
Best bang for the buck is 1 extra engine in a inchworm type.
Speed tests if a few extra percent is worth it to you to go beyond one extra:

Things that don't work on airships:
Modular force-field system. None of the blocks attach to a frame. If they did they all use fixed position coordinates to communicate. None of the important machines i tested worked with pipes of any kind, so no way to break and replace.
Buildcraft wooden/emerald pipes. Straight corrupt the ship on moving. Weird things happen and eventually crash after 2-3 moves.
Buildcraft gates. Don't update after being moved. Believe they randomly come back to life or come back when you right click them, but if the gate is doing anything important then best to not use.

Work, but with issues:
Advanced Solar (advanced, hybrid, ultimate) panels don't output energy after being moved. Break and replace does work.

Probably more, but those are the ones I remember trying to use and having issues.


Recommened way to build these is set out at least some of your frame and motor first/early and then test movement often. If you don't test movement along the way you could put hundreds of blocks on and then not be able to move. Troubleshooting that is a lot more difficult than troubleshooting what changed in your last 10-20 blocks.

Cool, a lot of good info.. As for the solar panels, they wont be a problem since they don't work in 'The End' anyway. Also I think the only think Im going to use the "spaceship" for is to fly around and maybe and I mean my mine some asteroids.
