hello dear community
been trying to figure this out on my own, but clearly i am not able to do so
so here i am
the problem: i set up a stream just for the fun of it and wanted to stream some FTB on our server
i am using dxtory and ffsplit to do so and the stream is set up and works overall.
but i am experiencing low fps even when not streaming or recording or anything( 30 and less fps without any texturepacks and on normal renderdistance)
now here is the strange thing: my system was just upgraded a month ago, running
-AMD FX-8120 @ 3.1Ghz
-HD 7870 2GB
-8GB 1333 Ram
-on a ASROCK 970 Extreme3 Mainboard

When checking my ressources while broadcasting(fps dropped to 22) nothing is used to its max
graphics is at 17 percent load; processors on a average 55%, while 2 of them are in the 80% range( been changing affinities); RAM is at 40% max, while minecraft uses about 1 GB
so there is plenty of ressources left
i hope someone can tell me what ive been missing

EDIT: forgot to mention that the chunks are loading kinda slow as well, singleplayer as well as multiplayer.
wondering if that has anything to do with my HD? did not upgrade that one
on the other hand: since when is MC restricted by a HD?oO

its getting extremely frustrating
cheers

Make sure Java is set to use your discrete video card. Sometimes using the FTB launcher makes java default to internal graphics. Also, get an SSD. HDD's limit chunk loading speed a lot. SSD's have a lot higher input output cycles per second.

what internal card?
if there is one it doesnt say anything about it anywhere
no BIOS options to disable one either
i find this to be strange...what new MBs dont have internal graphics
CCC wont show options in that direction either

concerning optifine: 200% increase my ass...slows it down, no matter what tweaking

purchased a SSD, as i wanted to do at some point anyways
would be wierd tho because a friend of mine who can stream a lot smoother does use an outdated HD as well
however the conclusion that the bottleneck must be the HD kind of makes sense

ill post results...whish me luck
and thx for the replies

Almost all AMD cpu's these days have internal graphics chip. Not exactly high end, but some people use those and don't buy a videocard at all. Should be fine, the problem with the FTB launcher selecting internal graphics was more common with Nvidia GPU's like mine. I was just saying it's a possibility.

As for Optifine, its really only meant to help people with lower end computers and/or need HD textures. If you need HD textures try MCPatcher. (I assume it still works fine)

May I ask which SSD you purchased? I assume a fairly new model, so it is likely more than acceptable. The best way to get results is put your OS and things like Java and the FTB launcher on your new SSD.
