I've been trying to get a multifarm up and running as a simple managed oak farm, and after an inordinate amount of time I have come to an impasse. While it was working previously, the farm has simply stopped placing soil down, I logged in to a giant sand patch early this afternoon. I broke the blocks, placed them back down again to rebuild the farm, and it started placing soil, and then it just stopped before it filled the whole area. Frustrated I logged off and came back a few hours later, to find that some of the soil had degraded to sand and it doesn't replace it. The farm is still harvesting and planting on good soil as normal, it's just not keeping the good soil maintained.

is there something I may be doing wrong here? I'm keeping the farm supplied through a logistics pipe system with fertilizer and water, there is plenty of dirt in the inventory, and I'm running four TE steam engines to power two farms and ethanol production. The setup was working wonderfully for the week previous. I rebuilt the logistics pipe system underneath to handle the surplus of items I was dealing with and then started having all these problems.

EDIT: I'm running the Unleashed mod pack v1.1.3

Here are some more screens showing the gui and the basic setup underneath. the pipes supply fertilizer so I don't think the farm is running out (there is always fertalizer in the gui) unless it's not recognizing it coming from the pipes or something, though this setup was working previously.

One of the older pipe system required specific sides for imports, read the wiki notes on that. Also, I think the multi farm requires a 'pull' for exporting products. Maybe its having trouble because you only have one hatch hooked up, it appears?

Look at the GUI screenshots, there is obviously no issue with pipe connectivity. The farm has everything it needs to start working.

@ VonKarmen: The farm still looks to be cutting trees in this state, just not replacing the farmland. Correct?

Also, in your second screenshot: the logistics pipe in the bend just before the barrels start has an upwards connection. What does it connect to? There should not be another farm block there, as it is the sixth block away from the valve block your liquiduct is attached to.

yes the farm is harvesting and replanting as normal until the soil "dries up" (i.e turns to sand) I have a wooden extraction pipe connected to the hatch on the side, and a logistics pipe supplier pipe on the bottom, until I did this the farm was dropping ALL the saplings, even from the germling (top right) inventory, into the pipe network. This setup is the same as it's been for the last week or so, and I only started having trouble with it yesterday. the only thing I have changed is the pipe network downstream of the farm (I added more barrels for additional storage)

Well, then try the sledgehammer method.

- Break the multiblock
- Remove all farmland and all bricks definding the farmland area
- Restore the multiblock
- Break the multiblock
- Restore the bricks defining the farmland area
- Restore the multiblock

well I broke the whole structure and rebuilt it, and when I went to refill stuff I noticed in my AE system that there were two stacks of dirt. One stack was "Dirt 3:1" and there was a small amount, and the other stack was my stockpile and was "Dirt 3". I'm not sure how some got a damage value..but that's the stuff that was in the farm, and when I put "normal" dirt in it worked just fine.

thanks so much for the suggestions!

I've been noticing some bugged dirt and stone lately. It appears to come from Dartcraft Spoils Bags, namely the ones I open by clicking on a chest.

I think what it is is a force-wrench'd-like stack of dirt or stone that doesn't 'expand' until it goes into a player's inventory. If you shift-click it into a chest it doesn't expand and the rest of the mods don't know wtf it is or what to do with it. It will stop an AE import bus in its tracks too!

By default, the multifarm is in arboretum state. You don't need a circuit board for treefarms.

I made circuit boards for mine because it showed them on the forestry site. I guess you only need them if you run a true multifarm.
I know i stuck a wrath lamp under one of mine and it stopped working. Not sure if you have one any place nearby that could be messing with it.
