Well, with Forestry 2.0 out, I've been messing around with setting up a few farms. Nothing too fancy, but pretty darn fun indeed! I'm a huge fan of the new system.

I figured we should start a little thread for those of us who've got a few systems going. Show us what you've got and how you made it. End design?

Here's what I've come up with so far:

I started with a basic tree farm, which feeds a Creosote Oil production area with wood, Bio Mass production with saplings, Apple Juice production with Apples and sand to be scrap'd/glass. It's not all fully automated yet, but will be eventually. The rubber tree farm is using an intricate circuit board with 4 x rubber electron tubes.

Creo production back...

Under the tree farm...using four Ender Chests...

And the final holding area! Our plan is to fill as many 9x9 Railcraft tanks as we can haha. So far we've got Milk, Bio Mass, Creosote Oil, Apple Juice and Oil.

Eventually, the whole system will be automated with gates etc, but not there yet. :)

I have to agree while I have not built one yet. (to busy on side project and wasting time on the forums) I think the new setup for forestry is really nice. I love that it is modular and to be honest I felt the old ones were to OP so I really did not use them much.

I'm kinda torn here. I like the idea of these multiblock farms, but with such immense costs I might as well build an RP2 farm using Block breakers and frames. That will only take a little BT, can use good'ol bonemeal (or time) and it'll look pretty awesome. And I can make it as big or small as I want, even though the smallest version will probably be pretty big :p

Havent really gotten them set up yet, i do have the blocks though. They look amazing from what I've read about them. And honestly what were you going to do with all that excess tin anyway? I think its a superb way to run things honestly as the goal of ftb was not to be in a sense easy anyway. I will post so pics when i have my farms up and running

I like how you can make one structure manage several different types of farms. For normal use (i.e. not burning into biofuel), any 1.x farm produces way more materials than needed. This way I can combine four into one, saving space, fuel, and logistics.

The manual rubber farm also sounds appealing, just plant rubber trees in a checkerboard pattern and enjoy the efficiency. Shame that rubber is somewhat useless or abundant at the stage when you get to the farms.

I would like to see (yes, I am cheap, DWI :) ) a farm that could automatically harvest IC2 crops in an area.

PITA?

Anyway, I love them
'Pain in the A$$' I had to google that earlier :D I don't understand all these acronyms people use anymore.

But I am excited to start using these new machines mostly for the orchard and rubber farm. I never really liked setting up the old forestry farms for them and I use steve's carts for normal tree farming.

I do most my stuff in videos anyway and showcased the new farm build with upgrading my Biomass by totally automating the system.. Basically named it.. Biomass The New King Of MJ... But most think it has always been this way.. Mostly a response to the Lava people that love to talk about nerfing it because its too... powerful.. Well.... Havent seen the new farms yet have they? (Guess There is a dupe bug in the farms right now that give you double or triple the amount of apples that would explain the strange things that happen the video.)

The version we're using gives 4x the sapling and apple output than it's supposed to (1 stack becomes 4) - this also applies to items you drop near it. Looking at the changelog though this is fixed in a later version that isn't in FTB yet. Granted, the next version also decreases the fertilizer use on trees from 40mu to 30mu. But yea, don't get too excited about your farms just yet considering you're working with farms that are duping items right now~

Edit: Also, the next version only needs dirt instead of humus from what Sengir was mentioning earlier.

I wonder how many apple oak orchards I'll need to keep three squeezers running full time. Gonna be a bit before I'm there, so many things to spend metal on and no quarry or sorting system yet.

Right now with the dupe bug.. ONly one.. Trust me...

Once its fixed hoping more for a 1 to 1 ratio.[DOUBLEPOST=1359705620][/DOUBLEPOST]

Ill just install it now since its not that big of a deal.. I isntalled Newest railcraft that added Locomotives too. :)
Never mind not out yet. Dang.. Like to get this fixed to see the actual output.. Think things will still be fine on a 1 to 1 basis.

Ah, I'm not sure I realized that. Regardless, I'm still in love with the new blocks. I'm enjoying the building process. And the ability to use a block texture you like is fantastic.

A decrease in fertilizer use would be appreciated. I'm blanking a bit, but can mulch be used in place of fertilizer?

In biogas production, yes. For the new farm multiblocks? No.

Sengir mentioned that the old farm blocks will be craftable into a good number of the new farm blocks in instances where the old farms are disabled.

I have to ask- will there be a way to reclaim your materials from the old farm blocks if we choose to?
(like shift-punch with a wrench to dismantle it- dropping a machine case/ingots/tubes ect)
If you have Twillight Forest, you should be able to uncraft them in an uncrafting table. I don't think you can take apart the electron tubes though.
