Title says it all. I've already made a Diamond Drill, but not really sure where to go from there. I know Quarry's use them. But I'm just curious what everyone does with their first diamonds.

turtles. turtles or a steve's carts wood farm. and a handsaw if you want to start with rp soon

Diamond-tipped Drill is generally my first thing, although sometimes I'll delay and either get an Arb/Logger set up if I'm in a tree-poor area, or a Handsaw if I want to get started right away with microblock technology. After all, the only advantage the diamond-tipped drill has over the regular drill is going through obsidian. With an Igneous Extruder, that's no longer really as necessary.

Haven't really played much with CC yet. In fact, I'm seriously tempted to just remove it. I mean... yea, sure, I could just set it up at y11 with a stack of torches and an improved Excavate command from the CC forums and basically get diamonds faster than a quarry can, but why?

That reminds me... does CC turtles count lava cans/cells as valid fuel sources?

I spend my next 5 diamonds on a Steve's cart with the logger attachment. I find it does much better than a forestry tree farm which need humus in steady supply. The logger cart only needs seeds :D. After that it's a mining turtle for sure till I have enough resources to build a frame bore machine to inchworm my way under the surface.

Diamond drawplate and handsaw. I've fallen in love with the RP2 engine, so I rush for those first.

Diamond drill, Turtle for Tree farm and then some soul shards (lots of spawners to eat up close by). where my first diamond uses. 1 more Shard round, for blazes, with my last current diamond and then my butt's headed to the mines.

I hope you guys do know you can use gem tools for CC turtles instead of diamond tools...

Yes, they can. That's where my first 20 tin go. 20 lava cells and 20 water cells for my nether portal, then the rest lava cells into the turtle for a really, really long charge.

I don't use an excavate program, I found a happy medium of a modified branch mining program that utilizes chests and torches, I just follow behind it and clean up. Typically, I can almost keep up with my turtle and together we do very well at clearing a line out without feeling like it's boring. Waiting for a turtle to finish excavating in the beginning, even with the advanced programs, is just boring.

Hm, steves carts... think I'm going to need to take a look at that. The logger carts or whatever you guys called it seems quite interesting. Thanks.

<edit> I don't use CC turtles myself because I find them way too op, just a personal thing.

I find them OP.. but I program them myself so I justify their use a bit that way.

They should at the least consume more fuel in both movement, and a fuel cost for actions / running of a program (x per second) or some nonsense in addition to movement / action cost.

Oh, diamonds well.
1: diamond sword
2: what ever come to mind.
You see, with ee3 and a Enderfarm, diamonds are not a problem for me!
But I do need diamonds for my frame motors and such.

I'm an oddball, I prefer diamond picks over diamond drills. I realize they aren't as efficient, but I love my silk touch/fortune picks.

I used mine on a Quarry, which in retrospect was dumb. Also, soul shards (hello two tier 5 spawners), and picks.

you can enchant the drill/chainsaw and nano saber using the enchantment books or at least that has been my experiance

Really? So, since the drill never breaks, does the enchant stay on the drill indefinitely....and can you add more than one enchantment with multiple enchanted books?

I'm reasonably sure that will be removed in the next IC2 update. It's pretty clearly an oversight, but hey, enjoy it while you can =) And @ Virgoddess, enchanted diamond pics are in no way a bad idea. Fortune or Silk Touch + Unbreaking, and the ability to repair them in an anvil? That's actually way better than a drill =)

I hope you know that gem tool'd turtles can't mine obsidian...

if you know how to code that shouldn't be a problem, you could probably code it if it reached a block it can't mine that the turtle should move over it and back down when it can
