You can also use EU in batteries without using up the battery (I believe this may change in the future because of an issue with the API), so if you make a LOT of EU then go that route.
Otherwise, go cut down a stack of logs, use one log to cook another log into charcoal, use that charcoal to cook more logs, and repeat that until you get yourself about half a stack of charcoal or so. Then give that to your turtle, and tell it to "excavate 8" which will likely get you a lot more coal and other resources.
Don't forget to add a chest next to the block that it starts on.
Mining turtle is by far the cheapest, easiest, and earliest-available automatic mining method. It's a bit slow in comparison to other methods and prone to needing manual intervention with fuel and storage, but you can't beat that price early game.
