Feed The Beast Unleashed Optifine

I'm trying to download Optifine 1.5.2 for my Feed The Beast Unleashed modpack because it's slow on my old computer. I looked at tutorials and followed the instructions: I downloaded Optifine,opened the launcher,went to edit modpack,and added Optifine to the jarmods folder. However when I launched the game Optifine didn't appear and none of the added settings were there. Can anyone help me with this?
In case it helps, here's some extra information.
-There are no other extra mods installed
- The hats mod and the Vending mod is enabled (Usually disabled by default)
- I'm not using any texture packs
- My computer is a Mac

i know its hard but try to break away from optifine. Alot of modpacks just wont work with it.

Also you might want to try not using Safari to download zip files if that is what you are using try Firefox or Chrome. For some reason the process of Safari unzipping them and you rezipping them produces a non-viable mod.zip Hope that is the reason.
