I have been very interested in making a video trailer for FTB and each mod. I view myself as a novice Blender user. You can see some of my work here:

I'm hoping to get permission from the mod authors to use their textures as a starting point for the textures in the animation, but I don't know how to obtain permission through the crowd of fans bombarding them. Maybe I should release the trailer to the mod authors only? This might show that I'm willing to put some serious work into it.

I should be completed with the first trailer for FTB map pack in a day or two. I might even eventually make trailers for IC2, BC, RP2, and Thaumcraft.

What do you guys think? I would be really interested in what the mod authors and slowpoke101 think.

Edit: Here is a screen capture of the character that I have developing for the trailer:

It seems deceptively simple, but there are controls for nearly everything.

Great idea. If you do a good enough job with these trailers you could get them officially recognized.

You sure have a chance to get the rights. The team might handle by creating an actual competition for the best trailer, which will then be the official one. I know no one of them, so just guessing, and also it seems like you already made at least a ruff plotline about the trailer, so try your best.
Nose-mouth area might need some more improvements, especially colorwise so you can indifferenciate them, but overall, good work.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Ya, I need to work on the color scheme a little. The mouth and nose are identical color, but there's no shading. A properly rendered image would look very different.

I've come up with a new schedule, granted the FTB pack doesn't get released this week.
I have tomorrow off, so I will be trying to get everything animated and I will do post processing the next few days. I will present my trailer to a team of artists on Saturday. I have worked with them before. They will hopefully give me some good criticism to make the trailer better.
What I need help with is.... finding good audio artist. A few sound effects and an original tune would really make this video extraordinary. Leave a comment below if you know a tallented audio artist that is interested in helping.
