Oh hey Saice, glad to hear your underwater base is going fine!

On topic:

Most favourite: Magma Crucible. I promised myself I wouldn't burn netherrack in it - but even before I entered the Nether, having it turning out lava to centrifuge while I did beekeeping did wonders for my supplies.
Least favourite: this is going to sound odd, but the Moistener. I was trying to run it for clay, but the stupid thing kept jamming because it took too many items. I'll probably just get clay bees or something.

Ah, I see what you're saying.
I suppose one solution would be to have a lot of coke ovens producing creosote oil in parallel, but that hardly seems worth it :p

Yeah, based on what I've found, a 36LP boiler can burn through two ovens completely full of creosote in like...2 minutes. I can't even imagine how many you would need to have it continuously fueled... :p

I've been using biofuel because it seems to be WAY more efficient.

You can make magma creams from slime balls and blazerods. Just macerate/pulverise the rods to get more powder, and slimes spawn in swamps at night.

Alas, the closest swamp to my base is about a kilometer away, if not more. That, and...derp on my part, I keep forgetting that particular detail, lol.

Be happy your not trying to build the Industrial Blast Furnace from GregTech on hard mode.

Man I still need one of those. .... man I need to get my IC wing started.

Man I need to finish this bee stuff.... sigh so much to do ... I know I'll dick around on the forums instead!

Actually, I'm trying to do just that, but without the hard mode. GregTech hard mode just makes even the simplest procedures far, far more painful and tedious than they really ought to be. While trying to get an automated tree farm started so I can farm apples, to automate mulch production, to automate biomass production, so I can get some industrial steam engines going and send my BC power production into overdrive. Not that I really -need- it, I'm just greedy, lol.

Lack of slime balls?

Go to your mines, branch mines for example, or bottom of a quarry.
Activate slime chunk filter for the minimap, and find your slimes.

It seriously is a pain when you lack a place where they spawn, but when they start, you rapidly have stacks of it, and nearly no use for them all.

Or put 6 lime dye & a bucket of milk in a crystalizer

and wait 37 years. Sure its fire and forget but you probly can get your slime quicker just looking for a slime chunk.

But if your not in a hurry totaly th crystalizer (or three) are a great way to go.

Would that be to prevent people from chaining a large number of redstone engines together to produce a large amount of energy for 'free'?

Why did they even "stalled" Redstone engines farms? They produced so little power to not be even worth the efforts, resources. and space. Pipes even lose energy over distances so the bigger the plant the less power per engine the plant would be producing. If you really want "free" MJ you may as well use Redstone energy cells as "wiring" and have 1000's of Redstone engines pumping away. Seriously Redstone engines are Not a viable option for "free" MJ your's better off having a Milk Power Plant with Biogas engines for easy free power without the crazy resource and space costs that Redstone engines have.

Well, the main reason that redstone engine won't produce power is because these big contraptions caused massive lag on servers, for very little power, when compared to even sterling engines.

There's a direwolf20 server play season 3 video where someone makes a factory that can produce most basic (if not all) red power integrated redstone circuits on demand using only 1 craft packet maker, a stamper, a computer, a sortron and a reed->paper farm.
Oh, that's only the beginning of what can be done (well, I don't know if I could, but in theory). Watch WayofFlowingTime and be prepared to have your mind blown.

On topic, most favorite: Sorting Machine. So awesome to place 1 block and have all the things flowing all over your base, going exactly where they're supposed to go.

Least favorite: Sorting Machine. "WHY ARE YOU JAMMED???!!!"

bipolarity over here :p

back on topic: TE is amazing... Factorization is not... besides the barrels.

Definitely my favourite is the nuclear reactor (fission, not fusion); I mean, how often do you get to play around with some enriched uranium/plutonium IRL? I just wished you could still do CASUC reactors (technically you can still make them, but automating them is a colossal pain in the arse). Also not a machine, but the GraviChestPlate... no prizes for guessing why ;)

My least favourite is probably the fusion reactor tbh, the power generation is nice, but I can never get them to work.

Ditto that thought there, only reason I use factorization is for the barrels

Most Favourite Machine: Advanced Buffer (GT) and Factorization Grinder (hell yeah, cobblestone-> gravel)

Least Favourite: Matter Fabricator (The most power hungry machine ever.......)
