hi guys, i have been playing FTB for a while now and my FPS is at 40 on most packs. When i downloaded the mindcrack pack at first i was getting some small fps issues so i went down to about 30 FPS, then after about a week of playing on the pack i got so much lag i couldn't play. My fps right now is at 1-3 FPS on the lowest graphic settings even with optifine! I have tried so many things like giving it increased RAM and using game booster and all that sort of stuff but i just can't get the fps over 5 :( so if any of you guys have the same problem or a solution then i would very much appreciate if you replyed to this :D

Also i am pretty new to these forums so please tell me if i have to post this somewhere else :)

EDIT: I have solved this problem now, i wiped my computer for everything because i didn't have anything that important on it which i couldn't ''save''. It must have been a virus or a weird program that did it but i won't delete any of this because it might help someone else :D

How much ram do you have total available? How much have you allocated? Also, it is common to experience SOME client lag when switching over to a modpack because there are so many mods.

Computers are like Cars If you don't maintain them they will not work well.
I say this because my Boy just thinks he can keep doing everything he wants on his computer, without maintaining it.
Have you updated your Graphics Drivers.
Your Operating System.
Your Mainboard Drivers
Your Bios
Java
Is your system capable of running what you want to run. Are you running more in the background than you need to.
Heres a good site for a Little indication http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri It's not the be all and end all but it gives you an idea if you system is capable. Remember Modded Minecraft is more demanding.
When did you last do a defrag?

Beyond hardware issues there are many things in Minecraft that can cause FPS and server lag. Two you'll run into a lot is to many tick updates on your server and to many entities in the world. Common tick update issues are usually caused by bugs in mods or stressing certain features in a mod. Examples of this would be RP2 timers. Having them tick to fast or having to many of them in a chunk can cause your server to lag. Now FTB mods are tested relatively well so the major lag bugs/mods/items are known and if you use any of these lag items in your world, you can either find a way around using them or make sure your chunk does not remain loaded when you're not using the area.

To many entities in your world, either mobs or items can also cause massive frame issues. Example of this would be a BC pipe that is overflowing and dumping items on the ground. Remember that a player loads 10 chunks around himself. So if there are 1000000 items in the world 9 chunks from you, this will slow you down massively even though you might not be able to see the items on screen (it's still loading them).

In either case you'd need to find the source of the problem and remove it from your server. This can often be difficult. One tool that's helped me in the past is located here.

This can help you pinpoint the chunk(s) that are lagging your server. Good luck!

I think i maintain my computer pretty well, i defrag my system about once a week and every 2 weeks i check if there are any drivers available to update. I have used the systemrequirementslab before and i can play games like Dishonored and Far cry 3 on at least medium settings with 60 fps, i have tested this and it is true.[DOUBLEPOST=1370772591][/DOUBLEPOST]

My server isn't lagging, it is just my frames that are bad. I have tried loading in a superflat world to see if the lag came from something in my world, like too many loaded entities. But that wasn't the case, i got about 1-8 fps on the superflat world so that wasn't any better. So it can't be something in-game that is causing all the lag.

i can use 6,96 of 8 gigs of ram. I have allocated 6,75 gigs to the launcher and it still won't work any better. And i have used multiple different modpacks on the ftb launcher but when i switched to them i didn't lag at all.

Have you checked that your Antivirus or Spyware programs arnt interfering with the connection.
Sometimes these installed system tools, can have a adverse effect on running things. Have you tried installing Optifine into your client and are you sure its the right version.
If your running a local server have you configured your router correctly! Check with something like http://www.canyouseeme.org/ Also if your on Win7 or higher. Make sure you are running everything from a folder on your C: drive dont install anything to ...program files/ folder.
A few Ideas to check.
Also If your system itself only has 8gig of RAM I would say give both the launcher and the server 2gig max. WIN7 requires a bit of RAM to run also so allocating 6,75? 6,750? Your operating system will be struggling. And if thats only 675 of RAM then it wont be enough.

Keep trying youll find the issue eventually.
