What exactly is the deal with the Mutator in 1.6? I used to use it with Uranium, but with the revamp of IC2 uranium I am not sure what to do. Uranium Ore does not seem to work despite wikis mentioning it:

I find other sources saying that the Nether Stars don't work any more either. Is there a list of items that do work in 1.6 and which multiplier they apply? Is there a decent alternative to Uranium? Rather not have to use more than 2 mutators due to running out of slots in my main breeding Alveary.
Also what's the deal about the multiplier cap? People seem to be puzzled about not being able to make it produce "Ignoble" bees by having very high multipliers. Doesn't this mechanic work any more?
