I am currently working on setting up my permanent, modular energy production for both EU and MJ and I have some questions.

Currently my plan is to have mass numbers of Ultimate Hybrid Solar Panels producing 512 EU/t feeding into storage devices of numerous types and powering all my EU needs. I will also branch the output off using fibre and drop it down ~80 blocks to my electrical Engine room using glass fibre cable, where I have 4 electrical engines surronding 1 Redstone cable that I will extend as long as need be. Currently I have it 16 long, for a total of 64 electrical engines. These engines produce 2-6 EU/t, depending on upgrades, and I will pump this energy into more redstone energy conduits for transport to close destinations, or use an "Energy Cell/Teleporting turtle" system to transport the energy to farther away destinations.

Since Glass fibre cable can transport 512 million EU a tick and would only lose 2-3 EU due to the distance, and redstone cells lose 5% regardless of distance (except in unleashed where they lose none, and I am using unleashed) do you believe that this set up, with adding more and more engines and solar panels as need be, will be sufficient to power an massive base? Will there be a point when this just becomes undoable, not due to other options being better as I like the use of solar power, but because the engines needed would lag the world?

If your using unleashed and you are worried about lag just use powerconvers. Its a mod you have to enable but it allows you convert lots of energy between all the power systems without a ton of lag. Really handy imo.

If that is the energy bridge system, I'm not a fan of it. It seems to easy, to automatic for me. The massive tube of energy production is more my style.

Yep thats what I meant. Though it is my experience that producing MJs from scratch is far easier then using the EU to MJ rout. Biogas is easy to produce and automate. Compost is just wheat and dirt if you dont have fertilizer or mulch. A simple tree farm is important but will produce all the fuel you would need. Wood can be turned into charcoal. At the stage you sound boilers are probably your best option.

I did have a setup like that in one of my old worlds, however for this I am planning on powering everything I have using solar power, thus MJ is much harder to produce, but much more forfilling to do so.
