Enchanting troubles...

I have an enchanting table surrounded by more than 15 bookcases, my level is 31, yet when trying to enchant a ruby pickaxe or book, It won't offer my anything higher than 14

Why not 30? What am I doing wrong?

do you have any torches, or presure plates or anything else in the room, because anything that takes up part of an area will block bookshelf interaction.
I dont know about wrath lambs, but my gueess is they might block it too since they make invicibel light blocks.

My ceiling and floor is made of xychoridite blocks...

Edit: and torches...removed the torches. Problem fixed
