[DW20] Thaumcraft Enchantment Questions

What level of enchantment would I be more likely to get Repair I or Repair II, or Charging I. I have been trying for upwards of a hour and have enchanted so many books. Is the level 20 or 19, or 18 or something? I know Repair II 'might' be level 30, but I have not seen it yet.

Edit: Or are you unable to put those specific enchantments into a book?

I think azanor nerfed repair from books, its either VERY rare or you cant get it anymore, its more meant that you enchant your armour, hope you get lucky, if not make another (and add other books after :3 ).

Ah, so your having trouble with that too? I will just have to keep making my armor [no problem for me at this stage.] I seem to be getting the 'same' arrangement of enchantments though the last three times I tried enchanting my Thaumaturges robes I got: Protection IV and Thorns II. Same exact level each time.

If you have minefactory reloaded you can use it's auto enchanter to re-enchant items for a chance to add more enchants to them. However doing so costs increasing amounts of mob essence until you hit the maximum amount of enchants the item can handle. In addition you can use gregtechs magic energy absorber to strip enchants from items to convert them to some EU, just be very careful when using this. A cheaper option is the uncrafting table from twilight forest but that cannot be used on most thuamcraft items.

If you don't want to add Enchantment Plus you can find an Uncrafting table in Twilight Forest. It won't let you take the enchantment anymore but it will let you strip the item back down into its components so you can recraft it, essentially killing the enchantment. Won't work for the robes I don't think since those aren't made in a standard crafting table.

He wouldn't have removed Repair books completely, though (I hope), since the Thaumic Grafter can only be enchanted by book, and the description of the grafter tells you that you can put repair on it.

I think they're just stupid rare. That's why I have xp turtles.

The grafter was added by thuamic bees not thaumcraft and if you look at the update notes you would see that the grafter needing a book enchant is a bug that is fixed in later versions.

On both the scoop and grafter I got Repair II on the first try for each. I think that is the only enchantment that can go on those by default. Not sure about book enchants like Unbreaking.

That is very interesting. I could not get the enchanting table to accept a grafter at all

Yea i have a Melee Turtle + Brain in a jar + soul caged Mob grinder, I tried upwards of 64 times and have not seen a repair I or 2, or charging I outside of a direct enchantment. [took 8 tries sometimes but it is rather common on a direct enchant]

I'll have to try the direct enchant again at some point. Very good to know.

For my setup, I have an XP turtle with a simple autoenchant script that I turn on or off depending on whether I need the levels or the books. I'll just fire it up and let it run for a few days at a time. I have a half-dozen charging books and have managed 6 or 8 repair books over time. Mostly just Smite and Bane, though, with a ridiculous amount of Disjunction. Pretty useless overall.

Yeah, but it ends up feeling like more trouble than it's worth since the aspects aren't often in nice amounts (2, 4, or 8). I use Bane 4 books for precantio sometimes, but that's about it. I am, admittedly, very lazy ^_^

I meant a thaumium one, yes. When I tried it before, it went in the enchanting table with 40-something levels on my bars and couldn't get the interface to allow me to enchant at all.

Well I know I did have a later version of thaumic bees, I would check the version that is in the pack compared to what MysteriousAges released. I know there were a few bug fixes with enchanting the new tools.

i made 2 thaumic grafters and enchanted them at level 30. Got 2 times repair II on them, so no problem here.
BUT at some point i wonder if this works on silverwoodtrees. I removed like 6 (big) trees from its leaves and didn't get one sapling I doubt, thats just because i am unlucky ... might be some kind of bug

Azanor has taken deliberate steps to keep silverwoods from being renewable by any means. Tools such as grafters and chainsaws won't work, and the drop rate is very low to keep you from farming them.

IIRC chainsaws drop the leaves and can drop saplings so you should be able to make an infinite loop of them from a single tree leaf.
