I'm using a customized Direwolf20 pack on a 2011 iMac, the more powerful 21.5" model with 20 GB of RAM installed running Mountain Lion, using the latest version of the launcher and Java 6 for Mac. The only mods added are Advanced Solars (in addition to Compact Solars), Applied Energistics, and Optifine; some of the other mods such as XyCraft and Modular Powersuits have also been updated to more recent versions. The server I play on is relatively small and virtually lag-free, so I've never had any issues playing on it, even when other players had client-side lag from complicated machinery. However, after updating the server a few days ago to the most recent D20 pack and adding Applied Energistics, my game has been freezing every few minutes. None of the other players on the server have had any issues, as I'm pretty sure they're all on Windows computers. The freezes seem to happen most often when clicking on a block to open a GUI or when inside a GUI, although I have had them happen while walking or jumping or even just typing in the chat; these happen even when the game is running completely smoothly, and it goes right back to normal speed on the times when it doesn't crash. When it does crash the screen completely freezes, sometimes turning black or displaying the brown menu background without anything on it until it closes on its own or I force quit it. No crash report appears, and the Forge log just shows the game randomly stopping without any errors. The game has plenty of memory allocated, 6 GB, and watching in Activity Monitor shows the game using around 120% of the CPU and 1 GB of memory at all times, which doesn't noticeably change when it crashes. I've tried restarting the computer and logging all the other users out (I myself don't have anything else up when playing) but there's absolutely no change.
The one thing I can think of that could be related is a system update installed a day or two before this started occurring, right around the time I updated my pack. After it was installed the other users on the same computer got error messages when trying to open most of the programs saying that the library was corrupted (giving it permission to repair the library as requested did nothing), and a different user on a MacBook Air running Snow Leopard reported problems after installing an update around the same time. Has anyone else had any experience with this?
