Thread title says it all, I need them but i only have 4. I tried using my bore to drain the aura around me but the infused stone just dose not seem to be changing. Its been 0 for so long and i've only managed to make the flux high/dangerous lol.

find infused stone... dont mine it. Now use up all the vis... if you keep doing this the node wil at some point have to drain the infused stone turning it from what ever flavor it is to dull.

EDIT: this can take a looooong time becuase it will frist borrow vis from connected nodes.

Another way is if you have GT installed theres a vis eating genarator that will make EU from shards and turn them dull.

Method #1.

Run one or more arcane bores in an area until all the vis/aura is gone. Drop a quarry and let it run. Many of the shards mined by the quarry will be drained and therefor dull. I've done this a few times and gotten enough dull shards to make as many crystal capacitors as I want.

Method #2.

Create a mystcraft age with a hell biome. Dull shards are supposed to be the "common" type in hell biomes. I haven't tried this myself, so just going on what I've read.

Method #3.

There is a bee species that produces dull shards. Think it is the Stark species added by thaumic bees.

i might be inclined to do method #2, though would just digging around in the nether work instead?

I have never seen a shard in the neither becuase there is no smooth stone there for it to spawn in.

but then agian I don't do much mining in the neither either.

This is correct, and is shockingly easy.

If you make a crystal core and then break it, you'll get one or two dull shards back. But the Gregtech method sounds the most practical.

I've found the an easy way to use up vis from the local aura is to get a tool with repair on it. Then just use that tool a lot. I've watched a piece of infused stone drain to dull right next to me while mining before. Was kinda neat watching it turn from orange to grey.

Rumour or fact: quarry a wasteland biome?

On my let's play server My first several quarries were placed on the wasteland biome close to my base, recently my quarries have been in my meadow biome mystcraft age, I've also done a lot of thaumcraft in my base, which has been aura drained a couple of times (9 chunks base is on have been quarried too). I also run node puryfying bees.

My crystal count is: blue, red, yellow 500+, purple 600+, green and dull 2000+

Do I have 2000+ dull because of the wasteland quarrying or some other combination of factors possibly including my node purifying bees?

As far as I can tell, there are /no/ natural dull shards, so wasteland shouldn't make a difference. (IE, all shards start charged before aura usage happens).
