Do you feel that applied energetics can ruin some of the fun?

Yeah maybe but what I said still applies, there's lots of things that could potentially ruin some of the fun if you let it, it depends on your style of play really.

Vary ture is singel player. Less so on Server play where other people have an impact on your play.

And yes it has to do with playstyle and the type of player you are. Like I'm on a server and eveyrone is all AE IS THE BESTEST and they all got quarrys and stuff. I'm just hand mining and uses chests becuase I like that. But not everyone has that ablity to be happy with there own work and compare themselves to others more then they should folks like that might see AE as a sort of have and have not on server play feeling they are not keeping up with the rest if they opt out of using it.

Its all reletive really and I'm always suprised how much people let that sort of thing bother them.

B0bst3r, what's the big thing coming in your sig?
And are you still on Morv's server?
And is that project still running?

I love the IDEA of AE not so much its actual use right now. As dave pointed out the one thing Level Emitor is var vauge on its fine contorl. If the added say a set of Logic Inport/Export buses with a GUI allowing for proity and level contorl. IE. Proity 1 Export set to 64 wood would always get 64 to keep in it connected invtory at which point it stops requesting wood form the network. If you had 3 of them set to 1 2 and 3 that would be 3 stacks wood in stuff all the time while the rest going to your DSU/Drive only pulling more as needed. Something like that would add a layer of fine control.

This is easy enough already.... Fill all but the first 1 or 2 or 3 slots of a chest with something non-stacking like tree taps. Then set an export bus to put planks in the chest. It can only fit as many stacks as you left open so that is all that the chest will ever hold. There are then a variety of options on how to pull from the chest on demand for whatever you are using the wood for.

That being said, having finer control on the buses themselves would be awesome.

No I left Morv's city project soon after it started
And lastly I asked Morv on her stream if it was still running and she didn't reply so not sure.

Page 2 of a thread and no one has started a gregtech flame war yet new record anyone lol :D
Thanks for destroying that flow by mentioning it.-_-

I've personally stayed away from AE because it looks horrible. I know that's an aesthetic decision in a realm of function over form but that's my view. Having all of those wires all about breaks the flow of the game, but I'm going to be forced to use it soon because even with hand mining and golem farming, I'm having major issues with storage and sorting. I also can not argue with how much easier Thaumcraft would be for me to use if I had all of my items accessible from one block, as opposed to rummaging through several chests

In all I wouldn't call AE "easy" or fun stealing, at least not from the perspective of the OP. If anything for me, the thought of running even more wires and trying to hide them poses a threat to my fun. It's rough enough to make power cables of all types either disappear!

Play styles vary and if AE is taking the fun away then perhaps a change of mod selection would do you some good.

For the feeding the charcoal to a boiler problem, the way I'd do it is to point an export bus at the firebox set to "export single/craft". Then it would automatically turn logs into charcoal at the rate it needed them. Also, I don't know what your problem is with MFR farms, they work perfectly with AE. Attach an ME Interface to the side of the harvester, it will output the harvested items into the Interface and they'll get sucked instantly into the network.

I can't help but feeling you walked around answering my question. The answer is, "There is no good way, of course, and other mods make it very simple to do." Instead you tried to say that my desire to do this is invalid. I feel a bit patronized? "Dave start working in absolute sums when you're about to make 3 million road blocks just keep hitting +64 okay?"

I'm defiantly not trying to be patronising; apologies. I'm trying to say is that in many cases there are AE solutions to the problems you present. I'm not saying it's always the 'best' solution; not at all! It's just that I've spend a lot of time on my current base and there have been very few cases where I even had to involve other mods to produce certain items; most of the time a level emitter on either an import or export bus worked fine. And in the cases where I wanted to have a large stock of items at hand a storage bus attached to a chest worked great too.

That's all :)
