Unless you have visual proof of that; I don't really believe it because I've purposely tried to make it happen. Twilight doesn't even do it anymore for me.

There were enderchests in the bottom of the tree holding supplies to craft the base and as a a place to dump the core of the tree as I hollowed it out. Going along nicely and decided to slap down a chunkloader. Bad idea. Crashes the client, causes a chunk reset.

The good thing about this is that I used the bug to my advantage by placing the chunk loader down 3 more times and clearing up the other 3 chunks the tree was in. Crash each time, chunk reset each time, another quarter of the tree gone. Interesting to note that the chunk reset also gets rid of the Star Fissure.

Wise people will use item tesseracts and spot loaders, never using chunkloaders, and never using an enderchest where an Item Tesseract will do.

It is a void age, there is nothing else. Well, there are stupid looking mystcraft lost libraries sitting on cobble towers here and there. I use a filler or a quarry to get rid of any in view range when setting up in the void.

I'll second this, Hoff... I keep trying to pump lava from a Mystcraft age and half the time I put down a Chickenchunks loader, the client crashes and the chunk resets. I've seen oil bulbs cut in half many a time.

This issue was fixed in 1.5, and even still I have never gotten the issue. I've been using the two mods together since 1.2.5

The enderchest needs to be loaded in the age somewhere, with another end of it loaded in a different dimension/age, having items put into it or pulled out. That is for the first reset. Didn't need the enderchests after the first reset, the damage is done. That has been my experience with Unleashed.

I plan out my builds in other ages now, laying out the spot loaders first. If I ever cause a chunk reset that way I may lose 1 spot loader, no big deal. That said, spot loaders have never caused this, I've done it multiple times with chunkloaders.

If people go back through various patch notes they'll find that this issue has been "fixed" multiple times. Something changes and it ends up having to be fixed again. I suspect triggering it requires certain load conditions in the connected chunks, something few people may ever run into considering the infinite possibilities when it comes to server horsepower and load.

Unless a specifically different chunk reset error type is found I'd chalk your problem up to nothing but bad coding(Not really "bad" just doesn't account well for dimensions) on the chickenchunks side.

Considering all of the amazing stuff he publishes, Chicken_Bones is a fantastic coder; you just can't account for everything.

I'd be far more tempted to point the blame in the direction of MystCraft, which is a wonderful, fun, useful mod but notorious for causing erratic behaviour.

I would as well since it is "recently" re-done(Mystcraft that is) but at the same time it occurs with any dimensions that are not 1, 0, or -1.

Mmm, fair enough. I haven't actually had any issues in non-Mystcraft dimensions, beyond sometimes having to place landmarks/quarries more than once to get the quarry defining the proper area.

I do wonder if some of it just has to do with the way the base program saves dimensions. It might be less of a mod thing at all and more of a Minecraft thing.

Pure speculation on my part though since I have barely enough coding knowledge to keep my geek credentials.

This happened to a guy on our server on Monday (Running unleashed version 1.1.2). Finished making his base look all nice, got his basic ME network set up, machines all that jazz. Plopped a chunk loader down and boom: Chunk reset everything gone. Left his house a hollowed out core.

He was living in Mystcraft age.

If you guys try to chunkload in a Mystcraft age with that, it's a Mystcraft problem. In case it works, it's a ChickenChunks problem.

The curious part is that spot loaders seem perfectly safe. You'd think the same chunk loading code that would be causing whatever the problem is would be shared between the two chickenchunks devices. Additionally, you'd think this different behavior would make it easier to track down the problem.

Anchors are an option too, but they're disabled by default in the configs, problematic for some people on some servers.

Load up your world, stand near your enderchests/tanks, unplug your computer, plug your computer back in then hop back onto your world to find your base gone.

Activities like this have been known to destroy hardware, quite frequently in fact.

I'm surprised that you have any software that is uncorrupted on your hard drive, let alone being able to restart MC and have this as your major issue.

My suggestions to avoid future occurrences:

1). Find and fix the reason your system is overheating!
This happened to me once, when the fan on my video card stopped running. It took out everything in my system except for my optical drive. Thank the unearthly powers that I had full system backups from the night before and 3-year warranties on all my hardware!

2). Exit all programs via their recommended method (Quit button)

3). Shutdown your computer, again using prescribed methods.
Modern computers will automatically power down as well, negating the need to kick the power plug out of the wall.

I know your statement probably went to an extreme to try to make a point. My response, at least, was meant to do the same.

I've repaired computers since the mid 1970s and have seen every Stupid User Trick in the book, from using acid core solder to elmers' glue to build circuit boards for a kit computer to keeping floppy disks handy using kitchen magnets on the side of the computer. I've even (I SWEAR!) had to replace an optical drive because someone thought it was a coffee mug holder!

Likely the issue with the default chunkloader is it's ability to dynamically chunkload based on its settings. It is utterly unique to that chunkloader and is the only thing I can think of that would set it apart.

You're right though, unless it's been fixed anchors tend to cause memory leaks because of their force loading chunks upon start of a server IIRC.
