Unless you have visual proof of that; I don't really believe it because I've purposely tried to make it happen. Twilight doesn't even do it anymore for me.

There were enderchests in the bottom of the tree holding supplies to craft the base and as a a place to dump the core of the tree as I hollowed it out. Going along nicely and decided to slap down a chunkloader. Bad idea. Crashes the client, causes a chunk reset.
The good thing about this is that I used the bug to my advantage by placing the chunk loader down 3 more times and clearing up the other 3 chunks the tree was in. Crash each time, chunk reset each time, another quarter of the tree gone. Interesting to note that the chunk reset also gets rid of the Star Fissure.
Wise people will use item tesseracts and spot loaders, never using chunkloaders, and never using an enderchest where an Item Tesseract will do.
