I've been looking through the RP2 config file, and I can't find an option to turn of the generation of RP2 ores. Am I overlooking something? I certainly hope not, as I'd like to enable RP2 for my single player. The same question goes for the RP2 rubber trees.

Look in /config/redpower/redpower.cfg, look right at the end. You can only disable copper, silver, and tin, unfortunately, by changing that 1 to a 0.

In the config file you will find a line that reads:

generate {
copper=0
silver=0
tin=0
}

You might have 1s in the place of the 0s. If you do, set them to 0 and it should disable generation for that ore type from RP2.

Why would they do that? I was looking forward to including basalt and marble into my buildings, but it looks like I can't. Thanks for the quick feedback.

I've actually had the same issue; I wanted to remove the gem spawns for balance reasons, even though I am definitely using the rest of Redpower.

Unfortunately that feature doesn't seem to have made the leap from 1.2.5; it used to be possible back then. Maybe it'll come back, who knows.

There's no reason you can't get marble and basalt because marble and basalt are not turned off in the config. (I don't even know if you can turn them off in the config.) The ORES are turned off in the config, as I listed, but I didn't list marble or basalt.

No, you misunderstand me. I was saying that I was going to remove RP2 from the Ultimate Pack entirely so I didn't get those ores, which would of course remove marble and basalt. I'm now less certain that I'll disable RP2 entirely... we'll see.

Be careful trying to remove Redpower gems, the other gems (from gregtech) have a different ID so each will not make the other items. For instance if you remove RP gems and try and make a gem pickaxe with gregtech gems you will not be able to.

Well the launcher makes it very simple to disable a mod entirely, you just click Edit Mod Pack --> RedPower --> Disable (And yes you will have to do all the modules). I'm not quite sure if this is what you want, this thread is very confusing.

That is precisely the goal I wish to achieve ;)

Avoiding gem tools rendering every other option and their unique strengths and weaknesses (bronze, steel, thaumium etc.) completely redundant because they're essentially "unlimited free diamond tools for everyone".

I don't like it when mods render interesting content redundant.

Between quarries, turtles, mystcraft, and twilight forest (is there a pack which has none of these?) You can get all the diamonds you'd ever need for tools easily anyway. If people are making use of other mods this balance issue doesn't really exist...
